You might not remember my
Extreme Paranoia post from eons ago... but it turns out my fears weren't totally unfounded! An LJ friend who always posts beautiful photos recently discovered another girl had stolen one of her personal photos... depicting the couple (faces unshown) to be herself & her significant other. As it turns out... the thief was none other than the same girl who happened to take on the same nick as me, kitschykat, but on yahoo auctions/photos/ujournal. Thankfully most people who've read my journal realised it wasn't me. But I'm still in a muddle... she honestly doesn't seem like a bad person... but how do you confront people with things most ordinary folk would immediately realise is just plain wrong? i'm wondering whether she needs help... it just doesn't seem normal to want to take on another's identity in this manner? After snooping around her new blog i also noticed that chunks of her user info are taken straight off another livejournal user's userinfo?! Spot the similarities between
http://www.livejournal.com/userinfo.bml?user=suzie_qt_pie and
http://www.ujournal.org/userinfo.bml?user=kitschykat ? I wonder if she realises the irony of the phrase "posers....basically referring to peops who try to be someone else" being listed under her pet hates.
Ok. That's it with my dissection. If anything it just shows how small the worldwide web actually is... you can plagiarise but you'll get caught too.
