Supergirl/MCU fic: The Cracked Sugarhouse
So, this is a 345 word Supergirl/MCU fic set in the multi-verse where Kara Danvers and Natasha Romanoff are buddy cops in National City--there are three stories that are already part of this 'verse, so check them out if you are so inclined :):). This is for 13th day of the Advent calendar at 1_million_words and it is also my birthday :):) ENJOY!!
Kara Danvers could see that her fellow crime fighter was one thousand percent done with National City’s Christmas drama, but unfortunately for everyone involved, the city’s drama was not done with her. “So, you know the board game Candy Land?”
Natasha Romanoff shook her head in disbelief and closed her eyes, visibly gathering her strength before asking her question. “Are you telling me that some deranged ruffian has taken the wonderfully innocent Candy Land and corrupted it?”
Kara nodded. “Apparently Carter Lockwood, age 30, is convinced he is Lord Licorice, Candy Land’s resident villain and that it’s his job to create mayhem.”
They both turned to look at the tiny puddle of dark syrup that had been cordoned off by the crime scene unit before Nat continued talking. “And his version of mayhem was to create a Molasses Swamp on Evergreen Street, next to the Big Belly Burger?”
Her partner nodded again and Nat didn’t even try to stop her annoyed eye roll. “You know, I honestly thought that once we’d defeated Lena Luthor’s toy robot army, our Christmas season would be smooth sailing.”
Kara tried to interrupt but Nat was in full ranting mode. “But never in my wildest dream would I have ever even thought that a Candy Land enthusiast would try to bring the board game to life!”
And when Nat paused for breath, Kara quickly interjected. “And why start with the Molasses Swamp and not the ice cream floats or Lollipop Woods or even Gumdrop Mountain? Why not start small with a gingerbread man?”
The two detectives exchanged irritated looks, but just as suddenly they both started to grin.
“Too bad this punk didn’t realize we love nothing more than busting the chops of potential Scrooge’s,” Nat declared, her eyes gleaming with Yuletide glee.
“Beware seasonal evil-doers, National City’s cops are on the beat!” Kara laughingly replied.
As long as they were around--and Chief Prince or Commissioner Parker didn’t suspend them--no one was getting away with trying to ruin Christmas in this crazy-ass town. No one.
