What a beautiful weekend! I was inspired early last ewwk seeing a "Youtube Buddy" do his first loop's with his E-Sky Belt CP a couple weeks ago. I have been doing loops in the simulator for months now but never managed to try for real. I also had not flown my heli in over 6 weeks, outside a couple stationary hovers. So I beefed up on the simulator and did a bunch of good warm up maneuvers as well as a lot of loop-de-loops. It's not like flying a plane, you have no propeller pulling you forward, it's all about helicopter pitch, blade pitch, aileron and momentum. As the heli goes upside down iin the loop you have to make sure the heli is pitching correctly and that the blades are at a negative pitch so that you are still lifting the heli away from the ground while upside down. Only model helicopters can truly do this.
Anyway woke up early on sat, went to the field and was happy to see that all my heli-pals where still there, friendly and happy to see me back. Such a great and friendly group. The first flight was rough, mainly a warm up, and each flint I got more warmed up. On my 4th battery I finally tried to do it. I was flying my Align TREX 450 XL. This is the heli i have spent nearly the last year learning how to fly on, and she performed wonderfully when i finally did my first 3 loops. I would go way off to the left, bring her in fast and pull off the loops, then fly back and try again. I had only been in the air for about 3 min by the time i finished my 3rd loop. But i was shaking so hard I had to land, go back to the pit area and sit down. The next set of loops i sort of got on camera. The person filming me was not super great with a cam and visibility was not great for him. I will post the link, but I did 4 or 5 more loops, but there where sloppy because the wind was blowing a lot harder.
After that, went home and cleaned up and went to a big Birthday Party for a certain fox who turned 21 and got home around 2:30... Sleeeeep..
Sunday morning went to Breakfast with Hoof (who was visiting from out of town) and Marrok. Bumped into sme furs at the breakfast place we went to. Small town i know, but they are always there.
After that relaxed at home for a while and hung out eith Teh Hoof, then he went home around 4pm. I proceeded to start some laundry, clean up my room, take out some trash. My HPI Nitro RS4 3 Evo+ RC Touring Car I got used, had a chewed up shock spring on it, I ordered a replacement and installed it. Also dialed in the high speed needle on the carb, should be a lot of fun tonight at the track in Union City. May still need to bring the idle up a hair. Also put a new glow plug on it and tightened up the breaks a bit. Then proceeded to rebuild my 8 year old HPI Nitro RS4 RTR's throttle/break linkage combo. I tried to modify it a couple weeks ago with a better design from a different car but broke it. Oops, luckily I was able to find a replacement part for it. Got it dialed in and then ran a tank of glow fuel through it in front of the house much to the enjoyment of the local kids.
After that winded down, did some more cleaning and hung up all my clean laundry and went to bed. Again, it was a wonderful weekend. Thanks for reading...
