This will be a relatively short entry, simply saying that every time I make it out to a meeting at the Fellowship, a song or two pops into my head. And, sometimes, life will randomly remind us of songs we've loved two. Thus, since yesterday morning, the following tunes have sort of been on a shuffle playlist in my mind, in no particular order:
Please, The Apples in Stereo
Seems So, The Apples in Stereo
Cry, Godley and Creme
Ohio, CSNY,
Morrissey, Everday is Like Sunday
Don't Be Shy, Cat Stevens
Ringo Starr, Photograph
Awaiting On You All, George Harrison
Crippled Inside, John Lennon
Death of a Disco Dancer, The Smiths
Time to Pretend, MGMT
Let It Be, The Beatles
Glass Tambourine, Wild Flag
Time, Pink Floyd
Sleater-Kinney songs (mostly from The Woods)
The Fox
Let's Call It Love
Steep Air
Night Light
One More Hour
The Ballad of a Ladyman
One Beat
What's Mine is Yours
Wilderness
Modern Girl
Combat Rock
Entertain
(to paraphrase some of the reading from AA: "We could increase the list, ad infinitum...")
Most of these popped into my mind due to lyrics, such as from "Ohio" by CSNY:
"Got to get down to it,
soldiers are hunting us down,
should have been done long ago..."
or the following from The Smiths:
"love, peace, and harmony
are very nice, very nice, very nice,
but maybe in the next world, maybe in the next world..."
Again, this entry could very easily be a patchwork of lyrics, some perhaps even contradictory. But it won't be that. A meat and potatoes entry, about the band of the moment will be coming up shortly...
