mundane happenings: or, life in transition

I got my forty dollar monthly allowance today from my uncle. The problem, unfortunately, is that I owed one friend 80 and one friend 50. I paid the friend I owe 80 the 40, so now I'm only in debt 90 dollars. Ha!

The good news, however, is that I'll be getting a check soon. No, I didn't get a job or win the lottery. See, back in 2005, I used to work for MCI (now Verizon) and as part of that lawsuit, I can get up to 285. Pretty sweet, if you ask me. I could use that mild stimulus.

In further financial news, I not only need a job, but I need to figure out how I am going to pay for this semester. I *think* I can still get finaid somehow, but I'm not entirely certain. We'll see. It'll be another interesting start to the school year, a school year I will have to take seriously.

Enough about my economy. Overall, though the picture offers some bleakness, I've been in similar situations before. Money always finds a way of coming and going, so I'm not particularly worried.

I'm not sure what I'm worried about these days. I had a relatively carefree summer, actually. I drank a lot (of alcohol), watched a lot (of Mad Men), got a new tv and watched a lot of it (particularly the golden girls). I kicked ass at trivia, went camping, swam a fair amount, and got to keep strange hours. I'm not saying that it was all good (hell, gaining 17 pounds is almost never a good thing) but I enjoyed it.

I'm ready for a change. Change is a-comin', actually.

I find myself reading the news more these days. That is also a sign of progress. I enjoy the New York Times. My NPR listening has declined, but I'm not entirely worried about that. I know I'll listen more often as the school year resumes.

Today was a pretty good day. I got up early, took a nice morning nap, went to lunch, took another even MORE refreshing nap, and then just relaxed. I'm now killing time until my sister calls me so we can go watch a movie. I'm bringing over Nights of Cabiria. I hope she'll like it.
