ten years ago today was the last time I saw her, but, based on autopsy reports and what not, it was definitely the day she died. suicide. insulin overdose. apparently, that's one of those that, once injected, it's almost impossible not to die. nonetheless, her body was found near the phone --she had wanted to live, after all.
the news hit me August 7, 1999. Saturday morning. It was a very devastating moment in my life that I'll never forget. I haven't been right since. it introduced the concept of suicide into my life.
but, I digress. it's my journal; lately I've been doing fluff entries, so I thought you could use some paragraphs of meat. now, back to candy.
On Sunday I went to a new Indian casino: Red Hawk, over in Placerville. Aside from blackjack switch (which is an interesting variation on blackjack, I must say) it was a disaster. lots of money, gone. money is always coming and going though. that's one thing I've learned.
another thing I learned, by happenstance, was that on this date in 1962 they found Marilyn Monroe's body. That's another death that haunts many people. because of mad men, I tend to view her death through that prism. it's funny how two deaths can be related just because the calendar said so.
oh, and I played rock band. I think. anyways, the lyrics were tiny and it was hard to read, but I did band on the run. it's been stuck in my head since then.
I think this entry has a lot more to it, than meets the eye. or, at least, my tags are becoming more comprehensive.
note to self: start tagging old entries and updating existing tags on some entries and and and unlock locked entries. PHEW.
better shower. my friend is supposed to be here in 20 minutes.
