A couple years ago a transwoman was fired in Florida on the grounds of not being trustworthy anymore. He had been a public official (I want to say city manager) and now that he was she, she was not the kind of person the people of whereveritwasville wanted in office.

Just another thing on the long list of shitty things out GLBTQ folks have to worry about.

*sigh*

Yikes. Equating being trans to "not being trustworthy" = fail D:

Ugh, it's like the dark ages. I'm really glad I live in Massachusetts, but I sometimes think I should just fuck all this security and go sing songs about civil rights and stuff in all those dark ages states. You know, until they lynch me.

I mean, my great-great-grandfather was hanged by the Bolsheviks, and he survived, so maybe it wouldn't be that bad. Uh.

for some reason i thought sexual orientation was encompassed under an amendment of the civil rights act of 1964, but maybe that's not applied to all cases? or maybe it wasn't officially added? wikipedia doesn't mention it being added, so maybe it's an optional thing.
weird.
also, shitty.

Hmm, I'll have to look at that...I was sure there was SOMETHING that would protect it, but maybe not.
