Gone but not forgotten..

I removed my labret piercing tonight. I have had my labret pierced since I was 15 years old, it was my second piercing and now it is gone. For about two years I have noticed that my bottom gums have begun to recede, and for the past few weeks my bottom row of teeth have been aching. I value my very straight, relatively undamaged teeth more than a piece of metal, so, I removed it. I feel slightly naked and alone. An exaggeration? Perhaps. A loss? Indeed. I always used to think the people who didn't remove piercings immediately when things started going wrong (for example, rejection ending in scarring) were stupid. But now I see it is a hard decision. Also, I am getting my final facial piercing next Saturday and the piercer required that I take out my labret anyway just to let the other piercing heal. Oh, I cannot wait for my new piercing. It has been almost two years since my last.
