When I was a kid, Colin Miller was my best friend. As to why, I don't really know. He just was. We've always known each other and we've always been friends. Our mums were friends too. So maybe that's why. I could do anything with Colin. Play football or video games, go on an outing or just a stroll. Really anything. We'd team up for school projects too, of course. With Colin, working on a school project was fun. He could even make working on a boring one fun.
Even after I moved to London, he kept being my best friend for a while. I'd go visiting him every other weekend for some time. He even came down here a few times. But in between visits we lived completely different lives now. Colin's got a new best friend now. Nick. He's okay. We used to hang out with him sometimes. But when I'm up in Cambridge now, it's like it is the other way round. Like Nick and I changed places.
Now, I'd say Tess is my best friend. She follows me around everywhere. And I teach her tricks and commands and stuff. Tess is a terrier. I found her one day in a box behind a Tesco’s. That's why she's called Tess. And don't you say a dog's a man's best friend?
