Now seems as good a time as ever to update about everything I meant to update about.
1) NYC. Wow. It was like...a month ago. Basically, Wicked was AMAZING and I am completely obsessed! I got a t-shirt that says "WICKED" on the front and "DEFY GRAVITY" on the back. Flippin sweet. Alyssa, Maggie and I were all sobbing during the end. It was SO intense. I highly recommend it. Phantom was also amazing, which I saw with my family. It's classic broadway. The sets are the coolest part and the guy who played the phantom was INCREDIBLE! Hugo something... Very talented. I was kind of in a bad mood that day though. I was so used to taking in the whole NYC experience with my friends who were full of energy, like me, and we did it like new yorkers. My family was a lot slower (walking pace) and were not at all interested in the cool little New York things. That was kind of disappointing. I'm just glad I got that time with my friends. Grand Central Station was also a really great experience. To just stand in the middle with everything moving, changing, and growing around you is totally awesome. But Carnegie Hall. Wow. I can't even describe the feeling you get walking into that place...just knowing the history that's in that hall...to really see it with your own eyes... I just wish I wouldn't have seen the hall until I walked out on stage. It was still an incredible experience though. It was music. :-)
2) Iowa trip. Well, I didn't have a full voice (and still don't) so that sucked, but I worked with it. Weston Noble is the coolest man in the world! He has such awesome ideas of what music is and he is just SO passionate and excited that you can't help but be excited too. I also really like the way he would pick someone out from anywhere in the auditorium, point to them, and say, "you know, you inspire me." He was just SUCH a cool guy! Wish anyone who loves to sing could meet him. Our chamber choir became such a family over that trip too...it was SO incredible. I feel a lot closer to them now.
3) 4n6 State. Two words. KICK ASS! We had TREMENDOUS accomplishments at state this year! Ben and Kira got robbed though. They only went to semi-finals, however they had prelim ranks of 1-1-1, so that's totally amazing. And Cec and I went 1-2-1 in prelims, so YAY! Cec and I got to the final too and we got 6th place! Representing for the Brookfield East team and new category! Overall, our team got 2nd place (WE BEAT MAD-TOWN!!! AWESOME!!!!) with 4 individual state champs! Katharine Barnette was AWESOME! Way to dominate storytelling! But yeah, it was great, and really good to be with the forensics team after that really tough week. They're another family of mine. :-)
So those are the biggies. Tonight I went to Laurel's with JJ and we watched Rocky Horror. Laurel and her friend, Britni/Sage had never seen it, so we introduced them to the wonderful world that is Rocky Horror. It was fun. :-) Tomorrow is gonna be a little crazy. I have to go to this brunch for my mom and go see Mr. Sleider and work on the drug project with Harris and bake pain au chocolat and AGJADGAIPGSDIPA! Then the french concert is on Sunday. I'm scared...it might be really bad. Oh well, too late now. Next weekend is State Solo/Ensemble...ahhhhh!!!! That's a little frightening. Well, I'll update on how the rest of this weekend goes and then how S/E and the forensics banquet (May 1) go.
*heart*
Lauren
PS: 13 days until I'm 16!!!
