So yeah, prolific journalist, Hunter S. Thompson died today. The guy fucking shot himself in the head. Everyone awesome has to go out with a bang, no? I mean, he wasn't that old, but it's not like his life was empty and uneventful. At least people will remember him for what he's done. He coined the term "gonzo journalist." In other words, he was ( Read more... )

well racism may work in that fashion when it pertains exclusively to race. however, it doesn't when it pertains to ethnicity because ethnicity is a man-made manifestation, there are black-hispanics, etc... and only when they are put in a situation where they have to identify themselves as such to protect themselves does it become an issue. for example, in pre-civil war yugoslavia most bosnian muslims didn't call themselves "muslims" or even "bosnians" most considered themselves "yugoslavs" as did the serbs, croats, montenegrins, etc...however, when there is a systematic creation of "ethnic" identities, these people, under a threat, will divide themselves up or be forced to in order to maintain their security...so basically what i'm saying is that ethnicities can get along and that races can get along ("hold hands"), however it is a question of security (in the prison, it's dangerous as fuck, as it is in inner city places, so these people in these situations must stick to an identity in order to protect themselves so basically the ( ... )

haha... you know i'm infamous for my exaggeration... ;)

i do agree with you, races can get along... but the underlying tone (and my point) here was that people are prejudice no matter the color or ethnicity. people always make it to be a white v. the rest of the world thing, when it's not the case. people hate each other, and even in certain social situations (i.e. work or school) people are forced to get along.

so since you said people in "dangerous" situations must stick together, does that validate the kkk? in my opinion fuck no of course. however, like i said, my point is that people no matter what ethnic background or color they maybe, will have some sort of discrimination. it's the nature of the beast. even the most quote in quote liberal person has their prejudices. i mean, is it any concidence that even liberal whites will not live in "ethnic" neighborhoods?

also you know that i tend to be a very cynical person... and i've addressed many topics on issues pertaining to race. for the most part, we've seen eye to eye. :) so yeah, what it comes down to really (in my opinion of course) is that people cannot live in an idealistic society. people dream of a utopian society, and it's just not possible ( ... )
