Friday:
Took the bf to donate and then we went to Goodwill. I got Joy a Annie mug,I got 2 Walt Disney World cups (the tall plastic thermo-serv ones from the 60's or 70's .49 cents each), some books for Lilly (10 for 1.49) and a dress and a pair of jam-jams for Lilly.
Then I met Joy at Perkin's at 9:30 and we sat there 'til 3:30 am.We exchanged goodies and Joy brought the Hollywood Walk of Fame cards she got from ebay and we went through those. We each left with a stack and some that didn't quite make the cut are hittin' the skids (sorry Charles Bronson,Mike Wallace,Zsa Zsa Gabor and many others) .
Also,we sat at perkin's for so long by the time we each got home we were hungry again. I thought it was funny.
Saturday:
Ma,Nicolas,Lilly and I went to Arc's Value Village in Brooklyn Park and picked up a few things. I got an Art Deco frame with a pic of Ann Sheridan in it, a Walt Disney Comics digest (from 1972),sheet music for "At the Moving Picture Ball" it has drawings of Mary Pickford and Charlie Chaplin among others on it, 2 Dynamite magazines one with Brady Bunch on it and the other with Empire Strikes Back on it (I used to get those when I was a kid). Then we went over to the New Hope store and I got sheet music for" The Wish That I Wish Tonight" w/Barbara Stanwyck and "Wishing Will Make It So" w/ Irene Dunne and Charles Boyer (they had no prices on them and the cutiepie at the counter gave them both to me for .19 cents!)and a copy of Jeanette MacDonald's -Naughty Marietta on VHS.
We went over to Half -price books (I'm still looking for that book for you Joy!) and I picked up a few things there.
-Charlie Chaplie :The Forgotten Years DVD
- V is for Vampire by David J. Skal
-The Complete Book of Oscar Fashion by Reeve Chace (it's all velvety fuzzy too!)
-My First Years With Bing by Kathryn Crosby (signed edition)
-Hollywood at Your Feet by Stacey Endress & Robert Cushman
-Kellogg's Cookbook
We then ate at Baker's Square. I had a yummy BBQ Bacon Crush Burger ( I recommend it!!!) and Strawberry Rhubarb pie. The waitress we had was really nice and she looked kinda like Kate Moss (if Kate was from a small town) and the other waitress that had her shift end while we were there went into the bathroom and tarted up in some slutty outfit, came out and then plugged in her hair straightener in the corner by the back tables. Then she put on her make-up in the mirrored wall by the booths in the front of the restaurant. Then went back to the corner and started doing her hair. Maybe it's me but uh,I found it highly inappropriate.Sure there were only a few people including us in the restaurant but still! Do that crap in the bathroom. The restaurant isn't your own personal dressing room. Apparently she had a hot date and wanted people to know.
Then we headed home all stuffed to the gills.
