i have a new hero!
this next post will most likely not interest you,
but it made me extremely happy.
you may enjoy it if you like photography,
or turning things into other things.
i was watching the discovery channel,
daily planet actually.
and it was all about weird inventions.
and the last dude i seen on there is my new hero.
he made the worlds largest traveling camera.
but the thing is,
you can’t tell that it is a camera.
he bought a delivery van off of ebay,
and then he basically turned it into a camera.
in the side of the van is where the lense mount is.
he made some lenses himself,
and one is actually from a military sub.
it is extremely cool.
but anywho,
the whole back of the van is just like the inside of a camera.
there is no automatic exposure calculator,
so he has to figure that out himself,
with small pieces of photo paper.
then when he figures that out,
he takes a piece of the photo paper,
which measures four feet by eight feet,
and tapes it to the opposite side of the van,
which functions as the film plane.
then he exposes the picture for the time he calculated,
and then he quickly takes the picture down,
sponges on developer,
then the fixer,
to stop the developing,
all of this he does on the floor of his van,
or large camera i guess.
the he takes it outside and hoses the chemistry off.
and what he is left with is beautiful,
raw photography.
they said it looked messy,
but i loved it.
it made it look prettier.
the photos he takes are negatives,
but he also has a way of making the positives.
i love it.
i want a camera van.
it was the most amazing thing to see,
inside of this camera van.
this dude is my hero.
