The “I love Kara DioGuardi” entry-extravaganza.
My latest entry was sorta depressing so I want to go back to my usual happy self. And what can be more effective than the good old over the top fangirl entry? I’ve been promising a Kara DioGuardi pro-entry for months so here I go.
There was a character I was in love with a few years ago called Monica Geller. Remember her? That brunette from Friends.
God, she was annoying, wasn’t she? So bossy, competitive, overly dramatic, obsessed with a sense of perfection, couldn’t let the little things go. It was her way or no way. But there was this episode in which she tired herself to death from making candies for her demanding neighbors that, at the end of the day, couldn’t even appreciate her effort.
Then you had to realize that small framed girl just wanted to be liked.
She had me for so many years. Then the show ended.
So, at the begging of 2009 another small framed, loud, passionate and - why not say - annoying brunette hunts my TV again. Except, this time, it’s a real one.
I kinda have this theory that with Kara DioGuardi it can’t be love her or hate her. You just have to hate her a little in order to love her.
Yes, sometimes she tries too hard. Of course that backfires causing some people to dislaike her. But I suspect that is a habit commom to people like her (and Monica Geller) who went through a good amount of rejection.
And when that is paid back by the smallest sign of affection, she gets so genuinely surprised and excited that you could bet she too would spend hours making her neighbors candy.
If only she knew she is at her most engaging when she let her guard down...
Anyway, I put together my modest contribution of basic reasons to like her, ok?
*insert drumroll and obnoxious jingle here*
She owned “bikini girl” and striped for charity.
She is a Phoenix House co-founder.
She has the greatest hair known to mankind.
Her engagement ring is awesomely-weird.
Her last name is DioGuardi which in Italian probably means something like “Kept by God”. (I would know that for sure if I actually knew Italian).
She is an angel for animals for PETA.
She was slightly drunk at the Obama’s correspondent dinner.
Her fiancée’s last name is McCuddy. Mc- CUDDY!!!!
She defeated a benji-eating disorder.
She boxes.
She (probably) is passionate in bed.
She gave up law school to be in a garage band.
She writes and sings!
She was in a failure one-project-band called Platinum Weird.
This is actually a pretext to say I uploaded some of their music: Taking Chances, Somebody to love (highly recommend, very fun and cool lyrics), Nobody Sees, Mississipi Valentine (my favorite vocals).
Since I prefer her live voice to her studio one, check "Will you be around" live performance (How could she say Adam’s performances were too theatrical and overly-dramatic?)
Okay, this took more work than expected. For one reason or another I fell in love with this girl and wanted to share it. Now, be kind and at least pretend to like her, ok?
Because she does have great hair. That you can't deny! :-p
