It is time for the kiss_me household to purchase new plates for the kitchen. The only essential question? Which brand and what design. So many options! But basically, they cannot:
- be 'seconds' like our current set, which aren't exactly all uniform and flat and lead to not always the cleanest plates out of the dishwasher. (I do love the deep bowls and hefty mugs though!)
- be very breakable, which would be dumb with the kiddo
- have an ugly floral design, like my 'good' china, which I never even selected but was gifted to me from grand-parents-in-law. (Also why I considered but discarded the idea of using the good china as our new everyday dishes.)
bella_lulu and @katelinnea each suggested fiestaware or the likes and I'm leaning there. No, my kitchen doesn't have a real color scheme or style. Though the walls are green? But my (possibly too large collection of new and vintage) tableclothes are a rainbow of different colors. And the decor is all over the place. I've got real and reproduction tin signs on one wall, 1990-2000 basic wood cabinets and laminate counters, glassware and funky teapots on the ledge above the cabinets and crap in every kind of container all over the counters. So yeah, no style. I almost think I'm due for one of those tv makeovers but then realize with the way we live, it would be totally wasted. Alas, the world of a busy family.
