The One With The Northern Catch-Up

A post from Sheffield. Miraculously, I managed to get my mother online with a ten year old laptop (166 processor, 3gb hard drive, external modem connecting at about 100kbps. Awww.) and now I'm a bit cross because her house has both digital tv and internet access and I have neither. But I am NOT going to whinge about that any more. Instead I'll whinge that because the modem cable on this laptop is really short, I've having to type this lying on my front across the bed with the laptop on a chair, a position which is not designed for women with breasts like mine. Ouch.

So. Thursday was spent watching the lunar eclipse from the train - I had the most amazing view of it. Friday I got my hair cut (they cut about 4 inches off the ends, it was getting very long and straggly), and then spent an absolute fortune in Meadowhall on new trainers and clothes, the first proper shopping spree I've had in ages. It put me in a great mood (even though I was spending money I definitely don't have). Friday evening was spent in the pub with John and Brian having random conversations and drinking pints of local ale. I was shattered so probably not good company, and Brian was laughing at me yawning the whole night.

Saturday I went over to visit the family in Worksop, despaired at my dreadfully common roots, ate fish and chips, developed a headache and wilted in the heat until I was given a Calippo, decided to stay in Saturday night instead of going out, and watched Last Night of the Proms from the sofa.

Yesterday I did very little except getting up late, watching the Grand Prix and Schumacher's retirement announcement, having a bath with one of those fizzy ball things from Lush with rose petals in it (which I totally don't get by the way - who wants to lie in a bath full of wispy floating bits of dead flower?), and taught my mother how to use her newly installed internet. Oh and I went out with my long-ago ex in the evening, but that's a whole other entry...
