Life Lessons

Ok... So I'm waiting for Christina and Gina to call so we can hook up, therefore I'm on the laptop watching Oprah. Here's what I'm learning from Bernie Mac, Debra Messing, Eric McCormick, Charles Barley, etc.

Bernie Mac
"Raising kids is like waging war."
"It taught me anyone can commit murder" (on finding out his daughter was sexually active)

Debra Messing
"Follow your passion." (best advice ever given)
"Live in the moment"

Eric McCormick
"Mom's in charge" (on being a father)

Patricia Heaton
"Telling them they are perfect, because that's what their mothers have told them forever" (on husband maintenance)
"A plastic surgeron is a girl's best friend" (on giving birth 4 times...ouch!)

On a different note, I gotta say the best men I've ever met were raised primarily by women. They are the kindest and sweetiest men. I'm not saying the guys who came from two-parent households suck, or even that all guys raised by women only are heavenly sent. Hells no! LOL. I'm saying, that the few men who have come into my life and put on stamp on my heart were raised primarily (if not 100%) by women. I think it taught them women are strong and endure a lot so it makes them treat the girls they are with better. Now, there is a problem too with them - they are also comparing you to their mom more then most men (b/c they ALL do that.)

One of my favorite women in the whole wide world was a single mom. She is just amazing in my eyes. There is a great combination of strength, compassion and tenderness within her. She's realisitic too. I just love her.

Note: (1) I'm not going to list the men I was mentioned above, so don't ask! (2) I'm not going to say who's mom it is, either. ...
