She can't hold her liquor. Literally. At this point, not only is her tounge loos, her hands are, and she is dangerously close to spilling vermouth with an orange twist all over her suit. But it does not matter. Because all she see are his blue eyes. He always wears blue, and she wonders if he does this on purpose, to accentuare it, or if it is just a habit he has carrier over from when he was married, when she probably picked out his clothes.
She know he does not look at her that way anymore. One step away from professional, the fact that she was able to get him to come with her tonight has pleased her to no end. It has confirmed the fact that she is still a strong woman who is able to get her own way.
But she is a lonely woman, who has turned to a lonely man. Why is it that she feel he will listen? Is it the blue eyes? She has worn pink so often, and not because of the feminity it exudes. Rather, she wears it because it makes her seem unapproachable. A woman of power in a pink suit: a study in opposites. It is enough to keep any person at bay. And she feels safe that way. But that blue...
She wants to talk to him. To tell him all of this. To tell him that she knows he needs a friend too. She was there in the beginning, and she saw him disappear slowly. And it has nothing to do with the relationship they once had, the love they once shared. It is the life he needs.
But deep down, she know that to be his friend is to be blue as well.
