Right, you're probably not wondering how this mix came about, but I'm going to tell you anyway!
A while back on my twitter (
flyingthesky), I was putting together love like you wanted for dancinbutterfly's Sweetbreads and Sweet Nothings (it's good, you should read it) and complaining about how I have a lot of songs about cannibalism and none of them quite worked for that fanmix. Then I said "well, what if I made a mix about cannibalism" and expected it to be kind of difficult because there aren't that many songs about cannibalism, right? Hahahahaha. Wrong.
Granted some of the songs on this mix (It's Warmer in the Basement and Skinned) aren't really about cannibalism precisely and I did cut some stuff out (the rap songs about cannibalism just didn't fit the sound!), but overall this mix came together faster than the mix I'm making for my 21st birthday. Seriously, who would have thought that it was easier to find 21 songs about cannibalism than 21 songs about being 21?
Anyway, I had this half-baked cannibalism mix idea when the new round 5 kinks for
kink_bingo were announced, and the fact that guro was one of the new kinks cemented the fact that I was actually going to make a cannibalism mix. I wish I could say this is unexpected and out of character, but let's be real: you're talking to the person who made this mix for Valentine's Day. The point is that this mix is the wildcard square for my x-pattern bingo on this card.
Fun note: this mix was originally called ACTUAL CANNIBAL REILI YAMANAKA and the cover image was going to be a picture of me eating brain-jello, but I couldn't make the jello brain mould because there wasn't any fridge space and also I never eat the brain-jello when I make it. Then it was called "I'll eat you up, I love you so." and then I discovered that no good-quality caps of Where The Wild Things Are exist and so I had to change my plan. I'm okay with that, though, because I really like the new cover/tracklisting images.
I hope you like this mix as much as I do and remember: I'll eat you up, I love you so. ♥
