Tax "refund"

Some years ago, I read over the W-4 form, rather than just thinking I knew how to fill it out. Turns out I could max it out at like 7. Given the wage I make, that means no federal income tax. Of course there's still FICA and whatever the other one is, but they are a lot less than straight income tax. And of course living in NV is fun if for no other reason than no state income tax.

Come tax return time, at least since I've had two kids, I get back a truckload of money that I didn't pay. But they still call it a refund. And they still give it to me. Apparently my tax burden this year was $56, so that came out of my dumptruck full of money and GW kept that. Good for him. Call it a tip, hey?

So, yeah, twiceyesterday mentioned that she and her hubby are hitting the sushi bar at the Atlantis with a small portion of their refund check, and I'm glad she did, because I'd forgotten I want to do that. One night the wife and I will hit Red Lobster, and the other night we'll hit the sushi bar. End of this month is our 6th anniversary, and one of the weekends around there we're going to hit Reno, spend a night or two, and eat at those couple of silly expensive-ish places. Probably get a jacuzzi suite. Those jetted tubs big enough for two are fun.

Yeah, the tax laws are completely, stupidly wonderful to me. They make no sense whatsoever. None. But I'm spending the money they give me, yes I am. And they keep giving me a raise every year. I'd never vote for Bush, but he has made a compelling financial arguement.

Also, I bought a bunch of CDs - you may have read about that in my previous update of about 10 minutes ago. Or not.

(we'll pay off some credit cards and stuff, catch up on bills too ... we've planned this carefully ever since we knew how much it would be ... heh ... just so everyone knows it isn't going completely to waste.)

Now, I'm off to change the plant's IP range. I don't know what tool originally set it up to 195.147.2.x, but he was a tool. Internal networks need to use the unroutable address blocks (192.168.x.x, 10.x.x.x, or 172.something ... it's only a class C, and I don't care), in case you didn't know that. So now I have to spend my Saturday changing it all to 10.10.10.x. My home network is 10.69.69.x.
