Do y'all know what evil is? True evil? Real evil? If you haven't played NWN Shadows of Undrentide, you do not. Let me enlighten you.
Evil is an 'overpowering'-rated sorceress foe with Stoneskin and Elemental Shield, whom you encounter at level six or so, if you're lucky. Evil is giving her... what was it, four? Five? Four, I think, warrior henchmen with swords of doom and dismay. Plus a hellhound. Plus a quasit. Evil is making your optional gnoll allies pretty much cannon fodder in the face of her magic. Evil is that you *can* avoid this battle, it's true, but doing so would involve betraying Tymofarrar, which should look appealing but doesn't because he's a dragon and he rocks.
Doing this battle as a pure sorceress sucked hard. Doing it as a Rogue (4) / Sorceress (2) was of comparable suck. I had barkskin, Cat's Grace, Bull's Strength, Ghostly Visage, Improved Invisibility, Protection From Evil, a robe of elemental resistance, that spell resistance sash thing, Gloves of Spellcraft, Elemental Resistance from the Katana of the North (that I specifically took the Exotic Weapons feat for!), etceteras, etceteras, and she still kept mopping the floor with me. Admittedly, remembering to use the damned powder flask did finally get me somewhere. I'm kind of embarrassed about that. Still and all, the only thing that saved me was whacking her before she got the fricking protections up, because without that she's bloody impossible. I did find the gnolls useful if she died early enough, because they helped clobber the warrior-types and the damned quasit.
But! I have proven triumphant! Now Kaishai Alair can either sell the dragon's tooth or give it to its rightful owners. I am stymied as to which I shall do. I'm thinking I'll go back and see if I get any experience for the thing, and if I don't, I'll have her sell, 'cause she ain't Chaotic Neutral for nothing.
