Tonight I finally got around to watching Capote. The only thing of his I've ever read is "Breakfast at Tiffany's" which has very little to do with the subject of this movie, so it was an interesting perspective to go in with. As much as it was about the murders, it was even more about the process of Capote writing In Cold Blood.
That of itself, had the movie not been so spectacularly acted, was very interesting, especially in light of a lot of the programming I watch at work. While most of its politics, we also have a lot of programs with authors, especially on the BookTV stuff on the weekends, which I just love. There are a lot of "readings" where they talk about the writing process for them, and it was interesting to see this in light of that. Especially in light of the Malcolm Gladwell Q&A I watched (twice) last night, where he said he could sit down and write a thousand pages a day for twenty days, didn't get writer's block, and couldn't imagine why anyone would want to write if the process was so painful for them.
Now I think I want to reread To Kill a Mockingbird. I know that's around here somewhere...
