I could probably transfigure some socks into streamers. Can't guarantee they'll last very long, but they should be alright for a little while at least.

As long as he gets the full effect when he sees it!

And if we manage to rustle up some alcohol from somewhere, maybe he won't notice when they turn back into socks.

It's against the rules to have alcohol on the school's premises; we're also all underage. If you're going to throw a party, keep it legal and in accordance with school rules.

You can have a decent party without alcohol; what's wrong with Butterbeer?

Who is this anyway? I just got the charm for this journal and I THINK I recognise the handwriting, but I wanted to be sure. And don't lie -- I'll find out.

Firewhiskey builds character.

This is your mother.

It does NOT -- it leads to stupid behaviour and none of you should have any in the first place.

Don't bring my mother into this. It's Kirke, isn't it? If it is, you're sleeping on the floor tonight.

We're teenagers. We find our way around rules. That's the point of being a teenager!

I am your mother and if you make me sleep on the floor, I will just crawl into bed with you and stroke your hair like I did when you were a baby.

Being a teenager is NOT an excuse to act like an idiot; and the rules are there for a reason.

Stop pretending to be my mother -- it's inappropriate and disrespectful. And don't you dare accuse her of spoiling me like that; she would NEVER do that.

Sure it is! It's the one time when rules are actually made to be broken.

But I am your mother, darling.

Okay fine, I'm not, but that's just sad that your mom never stroked your hair! Not that mine did, but it's still sad.

Rules were NEVER made to be broken; they were meant to be FOLLOWED and wouldn't have been made in the first place if that wasn't the point. People only THINK they're supposed to be broken and look where that gets people.

My mother would never say 'darling', Kirke. And it's NOT sad -- it's over-indulgence. And I wouldn't be able to remember something like that anyway.

You're a wet blanket, you know that?

And affection is over-indulgence? That explains a lot...

If that's another way to say 'sensible', then you're right.

There's nothing wrong with being prepared for the real world.

No. It's another way to say that you are lame.

There is also a lot to be gained from affection to prepare oneself for the real world.

I can have fun. I just prefer to do it legally.

You have a very idealistic view of the real world.
