I've said this many times before, but:

L5R never has been, isn't, and never will be a viable tournament game. The mechanics aren't suited to it. If your method of deriving fun from a game is cutting edge tournament play, don't even consider L5R.

L5R can work casually, it can never work competetively.

(This might be why I enjoy the game more than everyone else, my hatred of the concept of tournament gaming)
