"It's better to burn out than to fade away."
Today, for the 5 rings tournament, there were 5 people including me. I wouldn't have even been there if someone else (who puts a *lot* of effort into keeping this apparently dying scene even remotely alive) hadn't both suggested it to me a couple of weeks again, and given me a lift there.
I've been toying with the idea of quitting the game (as a competitor, I'd keep a few decks and maybe play casually every so often, maybe.) after worlds. I've been trying to work out what deck and faction to play for worlds, and testing stuff, and trying to work out how to win match ups, etc.
This evening (after getting back early from the 'tournament' as there were 5 people there, so we just played a few games, nothing organised.) I was playing a friend, and I'm just finding the game not that fun, and at the event today, I didn't enjoy most of my games. So my friend pretty much says: "Are you sure you want to go to worlds? Is it worthwhile at all?"
To be honest, I'm really not sure. I might well not go, the more I think about it the more tempting it is just to cancel.
What's potentially even more worrying is this: Whatever conclusion I come to, whether I go or not, is this 'game' I'm paying a reasonable amount of money to play, and investing a lot of time in really a good idea if what should be the highlight of the year for it is just a source of worry, and indecisiom. Or, dare I say it, stress. Is that something I want to keep investing time and money in?
This just annoys me, this is meant to be my hobby, and at times like this, it just feels like a chore.
