Musical Extravaganzas
For anyone local who still hasn't heard, They Might Be Giants is putting on a shockingly convenient show nearby: Friday October 26th, at 8pm, at the Carolina Theatre in Durham. No need to drive to Asheville this time around (not that it isn't lovely there). According to this week's Indy, tickets should be on sale from www.carolinatheatre.org starting this Wednesday, Aug 29th. Unlike every other Giants concert I've been to, this place has assigned seats, so you may want to jump on it to get near the front.
Also, apparently we get Broadway shows down here. Who knew? Among the more geek-lauded things showing up next spring in Raleigh are Spamalot and Avenue Q. Also of possible interest: Rent, My Fair Lady. Probably not of interest at all: Cats, High School Musical. Anyway, check www.broadwayseriessouth.com for details. You can get 10% off if you sign up ahead for three or more shows. Kinda pricey nonetheless, though, especially for Spamalot. Hmm.
