Herby

Productive day, woo. Also very sore. Mainly from mowing the lawn, but that was the boring part of productivity. I also finally made it to the Hillsborough Farmer's market to buy some herbs. Got, let's see, Rosemary (some kind with blue flowers, but tastes like normal), Spicy Oregano (much stronger than the regular kind), and a Basil. And the nice old hippy I bought them from threw in a Chives (I think a different variety from the one I already had) for free. He also had a fascinating herb who's name I've forgotten (started with S I think) [Edit: yes, it was Stevia] that tastes like... sweet. Apparently you can substitute it for regular sugar; in Europe it's more common and can be bought processed but here it hasn't managed to make inroads against Big Sugar. It was pretty cool - you can even just munch on the leaves, they're tasty - but since I don't actually cook anything that needs sweetening when I'm here by myself, I passed.

So, anyway, I re-potted the old chives, which were looking very cramped, into a bigger pot, and potted the things I'd bought in all my other free pots... leaving nothing to do with the free chives but put them into the old small pot, which I'm sure they'll outgrow momentarily. Ah well.

Oh, and I found out that in a reversal of a reversal, Weaver Street Market *is* going to open a branch in Hillsborough, woo-hoo! Not the question is, could we scrape together the cash to sign up as founding members while it's still relevant? Hmm, we'll see.

Meanwhile, I've been playing Kingdom Hearts II and getting sucked into the silly Gummi Ship sub-game, which is much more involved this time around. But it's still full of fanfic crossover cracktastic goodness. Rival gang of teen-aged Seifer, Raijin, Fuujin, and.. Vivi? Yeah, I dunno either. They're also ratcheting up the obscure-ish Disney character level with Yen Sid (the wizard from "The Sorcerer's Apprentice") and Pete (Mickey's foil from the old old cartoons) as significant characters.
