Well, I for one am not surprised by the outcome of yesterday's transit union vote.

Disappointed, maybe, because I want the buses to run again, but not surprised. Forcing the drivers to vote was pretty much guaranteed to put their backs up and ensure that they would vote no. It was an attempt to drive a wedge between the drivers and the union -- and ( Read more... )

They're talking!!  They're actually finally talking!!

Well, okay, they're talking about talking. But still. That's progress.

Fingers crossed...

So, here in scenic Ottawa, the transit union has been on strike for three days.

As you can imagine, this is causing considerable havoc. The number of people driving their cars is up by 20% (according to the radio), which is causing massive traffic jams all over the downtown core.

I actually had a wonderful weekend, which I will try to post about later. But first, the rant.

I get up this morning, get ready to go to work, and actually make it out the door by 7:27 a.m. This is a little early -- I generally catch the 7:33 bus, except when I'm running late.

At this point, it's worth mentioning that it's bloody cold out.
