"Reading. Ignore Me."

Should probably get packing for my trip as soon as I get home. Bleagh. It costs $40 for 100 minutes to rent an internet card that can access the boat's network, too. >.<

Went downtown with Dylan, yesterday. Seriously, he's the only guy I know that gleefully goes to musical-turned-movies (Hairspray is made of so much win, btw). Also got something to eat at the Boston Hot Dog company, and it was packed - totally insane.  Stopped in Harrison's for a bit, got trapped during one of those 5-minute thunderstorms, and then ran from store to store to avoid future soakings. Picked up The Astonishing Life of Octavian Nothing and it's an interesting Historical AU set in the American Colonies; the writing style isn't quite as contemporary as I'm used to, so it's kinda slow reading for me, by I'm willing to sit through it.

Also traded pokes with Dylan. Arceus pokedex data is mine <3 and I got a level 100 shiny Toxicroak. Not nearly as amusing as his other hacked level 100 Toxicroak with Hydro Pump, Frenzy Plant (or something like it), and Flamethrower/Fireblast, but it's still shiny and all.

There's also about a bajillion more Japanese tourists wandering around Salem this year, as compared to last year. Which kinda makes sense, since our "sister city" is in Japan and all. There was a culture festival of sorts in the Commons for a bit, until it got rained out, but there were a lot of people walking around wearing kimonos, yukatas, and happi coats.  It does make me want a T-shirt that reads: "Invisible Tourist".

Currently very annoyed with Monie. I can understand she wants to talk to people, but when she comes in while I'm in the middle of reading my book/writing/watching a movie/playing a game/trying to sleep, sits down, and then starts prattling on and on for over an hour about family drama over people I find to be rather annoying and repulsive in their own right (hello, step-aunt who kicked out her 13 year old son to appease her new husband, then never reprimanded her younger son for stealing from his cousins and aunts and for being an overall prat, then made a fool of herself at her older son's college graduation by getting in a fistfight with his father)... It is only because I was raised to be reasonably polite to my elders that I do not just ignore you or outright walk away. I have to send little looks of "OMG HALP! DDD:" to Betty and my dad so they might just distract her for the five seconds it takes to run off somewhere else. And she does this all the time. Betty is considering winning her argument with my dad (she wants a parrot and he wants a bulldog, all in the greater good of annoying the cat) by claiming that if she can teach the parrot to speak, Monie might cling to that instead of jabbering our ears off.

No offense, I know she wants to share stuff, I know I should listen to some of her advice... Except it's so dated and repetitive and oh god I can only listen to the same story of how her new friend is nothing like her old friend who died and she much rather preferred her old friend and why can't her new friend be nicer like her old friend...

And she's actually kinda creepy and sneaks into my brother's rooms so she can try and spy on what their friends are like.

Someone save me. D:
