“Let’s go.” Jiyong exited the car and motioned for the other two to follow him.
The car was parked at a sidewalk by a large white house with some lights on inside. The area around the house appeared to be just wilderness and Seunghyun was surprised that there was even a road leading up to the house. Come to think of it, it seemed like the road was only there as a path to the house. There was no other settlement nearby and the road was so narrow that only one car would be able to make it up the hill to the house. Building a road that led so far up to a private house must have taken a lot of money, not to mention how much a private lot this big cost…
Seunghyun’s thoughts were interrupted when Jiyong grabbed him by the wrist and pulled him up the seemingly never ending stairs. He didn’t even realize he had walked up to the house until that moment.
By the time they had reached the top of the stairs Seunghyun was out of breath and thought that maybe he should start trying to get into shape again. Jiyong stood in front of the door and put his hand on the doorknob, thumb over a fluorescent glowing pad. The light briefly flashed from under his thumb and the sound of the lock moving could be heard before Jiyong pushed the door open and went inside with the other two following him, awestruck. As soon as they were in Jiyong closed the door and the sound of the lock moving was heard again, after that he slid a bar through the giant hooks mounted on the sides around the door.
“Aren’t you overdoing it?” Seunghyun surprised himself by speaking. “I mean it can’t be that bad…”
“When I’m alone I need to be safe.” The smaller giggled before his face turned serious once again. “Plus I’ve been up against things far worse than this. Now c’mon.”
They followed the other, wondering why he sounded so old all the sudden. Seunghyun figured that fighting skills like that didn’t just come out of nowhere, and he probably wasn’t lying about being up against even stronger forces. He wondered how old the man in front of him even was. He looked younger but you could never know… Thinking about it, he didn’t know anything about the other man besides his name. He didn’t even know his last name. Everything about him was still a mystery and it made him want to get to know him better, to be closer to him. It might sound strange but from the moment he laid eyes on him he had been intrigued by the other man and it was starting to bother him.
They walked down a hallway and turned left into a large kitchen with marble countertops, glass and dark cherry wood cabinets and a gigantic stainless steel refrigerator. Jiyong walked over to a corner to their left and reached back under the upper cabinets. Light appeared from under the cabinets that reflected off the dark marble and gave the kitchen a lively glow, casting shadows in all the right places and making the whole room feel more warm and homey. Next the blonde man flicked the switch on a nearby machine and turned back to them with a smile.
“I’m preparing coffee. I figured we all would want some since this has been an…interesting day for you and we should be wide awake when we talk. Go on, sit down.” He pulled them over to some bar stools behind the marble counter on the kitchen island. After they had sat down, Seunghyun had plucked up the courage to talk the smaller man.
“You know, you’ve never told me anything about you… if we’re going to keep being involved together I might as well know something about someone who I will be spending time with.” Seunghyun cocked his head to the side.
“Well I’m Kwon Jiyong, I’m twenty-three years old. I like dogs, rap music, and designer clothing…um I don’t really know what else to say…” Seunghyun nodded. So he was a year younger than him and they both listened to rap music. It seemed like a pretty good start to him.
“It’s rude not to tell me anything about yourselves since I already introduced myself.” Jiyong pouted, and Seunghyun thought it made him look like a child.
“I’m Choi Seunghyun, I’m twenty-four years old. I work two jobs, as a bartender and a store clerk. I also listen to rap and I’ve always dreamed of being a rapper myself…” He rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly.
“With a voice like yours, that’s perfectly possible.” Jiyong smiled and Senghyun felt his cheeks warm at the words coming out of the younger man’s mouth. He had never been one for blushing but he had the feeling that someone as beautifully blunt as Jiyong could make him do a lot of it.
“And I’m Kang Daesung.” His best friend interrupted. “"I'm twenty-two years old, I work as a sales representative at YG corporation. And I've known Seunghyun here since he was eleven." Daesung smiled while pinching his best friend's cheek, earning him a smack to the back of the head.
"Wow. YG huh? You must be pretty good since a big name like that doesn't just hire anyone. Oh! The coffee's ready!" Jiyong jumped up and made his way to the coffee maker before returning with a cup for each of them and sitting them down across the island counter from himself.
They sipper their coffee in silence for a few minutes until Jiyong spoke.
"I'm sure you want to know what those creatures were..." He looked at Seunghyun.
"I don't know how to say this but...you're being targeted by vampires."
It took a second until Seunghyun could speak. "Stop joking around. Thats absurd! I'm a grown man! Do you really expect me to believe that? If you think this is funny then knock it off." When Jiyong's face showed no humor Seunghyun started to doubt himself.
"This is serious." He hissed. "You don't know what you've gotten yourself into, they are relentless killing machines! I know that you probably don't even believe they exist, this is the twenty-first century after all and such things have been blown off as a myth for ages, but they are real. I can prove it to you." Seunghyun felt that the younger man's eyes were boring a hole in his skull.
"But why me? What did I do to get them on my tail? And why do they know you?"
Jiyong looked unsure and uncomfortable for a moment. "....I used to work for them. They take in those who have special abilities and may be of use to them. I was used as a seer and a weapon for twelve years..." He shook his head. "It's been over a year since I've escaped and they've been pursuing me ever since. Thank god they don't know where I live since I've set up a barrier... You don't know. You don't know how cruel and heartless they are. They are cold both inside and out. No matter how many times I asked for mercy, freedom, they never gave it. The vampires in the capital are the worst. They claim to control the humans there for the greater good. They're in government!"
"Doesn't anybody know?" Seunghyun asked.
"It's not that easy to convince people of their existence. Look at yourself. You still probably don't believe me."
"Well I do think it's about time you see a mental health proffessional."
"Listen. The more you deny it, the worse it will be when you next encounter them. You have to know how they fight, and how you can fight back."
"And what makes you think that there will even be a 'next time'?" Seunghyun's anger was starting to get to him. Was this man insane?
"They have their sights set on you. You seem to have an ability that they want. But you cannot give in. You don't want them to have more power."
Seunghyun sighed. "So basically what you're trying to say is, I'm some kind of fairy and the vampires want to kidnap me for my fairy powers?"
"Not a fairy." Jiyong laughed. "Honestly, I don't know why they want you. Normally I can sense people's abilities but I haven't seen yours yet... It's strange. But I know what it's like to work for them... Seunghyun, promise me you won't go to them no matter what. They will try to bribe you, lure you in in any way they can. Don't do it... No matter how much you might want to give in. They will be persistant. But I won't let you..." He saw the other man start shaking as his head slumped down onto his forearms and Seunghyun didn't know when he had made his way around the island and pulled him into his arms.
God, it felt so right. Everything about the man in his arms felt like he belonged there, fit so perfectly against his larger frame. The feelings seemed to course through the two of them and Seunghyun could feel the pain and fear radiating from the smaller shaking form. Yes, even one like him could be scared, he was only human after all. "Shhhh..." he stroked the hair that was a thousand times softer than he could have ever imagined. "It's okay." He soothed the other. "Everything is okay, if they ever come after you again, I won't let them hurt you."
He waited until the tears stopped soaking his shirt before he eased his grip on the other and let him look up at him with his tear-streaked face. Jiyong's eyes sparkled and Seunghyun was about to wipe away those tears with his thumb-
"Uhh hello? Earth to married couple! Keep it pg, I'm not in the mood for these things." Daesung gagged making Jiyong giggle before climbing out of Seunghyun's lap, much to the older man's dismay.
"Look Seunghyun, I better be getting home now. Promise me you'll stay safe? This sounds serious." Daesung gave his best friend a worried look before standing up.
"Wait!" Jiyong spoke up. "I'm not letting you go on your own. It's dangerous with them looking for us now. They've probably already memorized all of our scents! And if you leave the barrier unprotected they'll me able to detect you and we'll all be found! Wait a bit." Jiyong pulled a sleek white and silver phone out of his pocket before entering a password and unlocking it. The other men watching as his fingers moved at inhuman speed over the large screen to dial a number before bringing the phone to his ear.
"Hello? Miku? Where are you? I'm sorry to bother you, but I need help." His voice was so fluid that it was like a melody. "Yes. Can you be here in a minute? Thank you." He hung up. "It'll only take a minute." He smiled at Daesung. Seunghyun wondered how anyone could get here in a minute if it took at least five to come up the driveway before he heard a rich, melodic sound that he assumed was the doorbell echo through the hallway before Jiyong sprang up and ran out of the kitchen.
The two best friends just exchanged worried glances and wondered exactly what they had gotten themselves into.
Through the door of the kitchen walked Jiyong along with a shorter, spiky haired, wild-looking, strawberry blonde with fiery eyes. The woman was dressed in rocker clothes, with dark grey torn jeans, accompanied by black combat boots, a neon pink shirt and a plaid blue jacket along with numerous silver and gold necklaces and bracelets. She had bright pink full lips which were decorated with two piercings towards the corners of the mouth, a stud on the left side and a ring on the right. While she was clearly Asian, with eyeliner lined almond eyes, they were blue-green in color with what Seunghyun guessed were contacts. She didn't look Korean, maybe Japanese? Her nose was flat and beautiful and almost pointy, making her look even wilder.
She bowed a bit before she started talking, "Hello, my name is Tsukiyama Akiharu but you may call me Miku~" Seunghyun was beyond confused, the voice was clearly male, and though he looked feminine, even Seunghyun's knowledge of Japanese told him that Akiharu was a man's name. "And yes, I'm a boy." He smiled in Seunghyun's direction while speaking strangely accented Korean.
"B-b-but how did you?" Seunghyun stuttered.
"Read your mind? That's simple, I guess you could say it's my ability. And not even that, by now I've gotten used to being mistaken for a woman." He laughed a bit, his mouth opening to reveal a set of dazzling bright canines.
"Miku and I were both forced to work for them, we were in the same department together." Jiyong explained. "He has taught me almost everything I know, and if it wasn't for him I wouldn't even be alive right now..."
"Aww stop it you!" The spiky-haired blonde rubbed the back of his neck, smiling sheepishly. "It was nothing. I couldn't let someone like you die there.." He smiled at Jiyong and the two of them laced their fingers together as they looked in each other's eyes. Seunghyun instantly felt jealous. Jiyong might not be his, and might never be, but still seeing him be this close to the other man in front of him bothered him. It's not like you've known him longer! He told himself. You don't even know that much about him while this kid saved his life! Looking at the said man, he was beautiful, strikingly so, his wild feral look made people want to melt in his presence. He probably deserved Jiyong more than Seunghyun did. They looked like they had a lot in common, both oozing with a fiery passion for life, they could only make each other stronger.
"Anyway, I called you here to help me. They're following me again. They know I'm here." He buried his face in the shorter man's shoulder, causing the other to wrap his arms around Jiyong's waist and pull him closer. "I've tried to evade them, they don't know about this house and it's all thanks to the barrier. But I have a small favor to ask. Can you help take Seunghyun's friend here back to his house? Sneak out of the barrier unnoticed and don't activate your powers unless necessary and well out of range to throw them off. God I'd be so happy if you helped me again!" Jiyong pouted and looked at the other with pleading eyes.
"Why wouldn't I? Ah, my Ji, you're too cute~" He rubbed the taller blonde's hair. The use of such a pet name along with a possessive pronoun made Seunghyun feel jealous once again.
"Well let's go." Miku stretched out a hand that was decorated with wristgloves and rings, topped off with precisely painted black nails to Daesung.
"Oh..ah okay.." Daesung reached for the outstretched hand before it grasped his own and he gasped before the shorter male pulled him out of the kitchen with a feral grin. The rocker stopped in the doorway before he turned around, winked at Seunghyun and disappeared all together.
"Don't worry," Jiyong said, looking at Seunghyun. "Your friend will be safe with Miku. I trust him with my life, after all I basically owe it to him." Jiyong giggled.
"Look with all these things going on, you're going to have to stay here with me~" Jiyong purred, and Seunghyun swore he could hear a hint of seduction in his voice. "Wouldn't want anything to happen, would you? There's no place safer for you than here. I can take you to work and we can go get necessary stuff from your place. C'mon! Stay with me! I get lonely!" He whined and looked up at Seunghyun. "Please?"
"Jiyong, I met you the other day." He was trying not to hurt the other's almost childish enthusiasm. "But it would be kind of weird if we just started living together and if you drove me to work and stuff... It's just weird y'know?" Seunghyun scratched the back of his head.
"Hmm? Why's that?" Jiyong cocked his head to the side. "Friends let friends stay over all the time. I have at least three spare bedrooms in the house, you can use which ever you like. There's a lot of space and I won't get in your way. What's so
Weird about that? Unless you were thinking we would share a bed because that can always be arranged~" Jiyong winked at him and Seunghyun could feel his face heat up. It's true, what WAS he thinking about? He had just made himself look like a pervert. Great.
"Ah...I can't escape from you anyway and it seems like our fates are somehow intertwined, I'll stay."
"Really?! You'll stay?" Jiyong's face lit up.
"Yeah."
Before he knew it Seunghyun was being dragged out of the kitchen by the hand and back down the hall towards the door before Jiyong pulled him up the large staircase. The staircase curved to attach itself to an open circular loft around the edge of which were three doors and another hallway across from them.
"All of these bedrooms are free. You can pick whichever one you want to stay in~" Jiyong gestured at the three doors before them, before walking up to the first door and opening it.
The bedroom inside was a deep purple with golden curtains that framed a large window through which you could see the bright lights of the city. Wherever they were, they were much closer to the city than Seunghyun thought. The rest of the room was small and tidy, and despite it's grand view it looked unused and Seunghyun almost instantly fell in love with it. It was a mix of brilliant golds and purples and though he swore that neither of those were his type of colors but with the way they were ingeniously blended and incorporated into the design made him love this room all the more.
"I'll take it you like this one..." Jiyong smiled.
"I do." Seunghyun agreed.
"So you'll be staying here tonight," His smile was almost blinding. "I'll get you some towels and you can use the bathroom next to that hallway across the loft. Oh and if you need anything that hallway leads straight to my bedroom so don't hesistate to come and ask."
"Uhh okay." Seunghyun felt weird being in this gorgeous man's house with him when he had only met him the day before. Now he was being told that he had vampires after him and that he should stay with someone who used to work for them, for his own safety. It was all so strange, but he decided to trust this man because with him he felt safe. The world could explode and end and he would feel safe, right here, with this man. When did he start thinking like this? Was he even gay? No, it was all too fast. He needed to give himself some time. He didn’t even know if he was okay with being gay.
“Thanks.” He managed a smile before following the shorter male across the loft to the bathroom. Jiyong walked in and turned on the light making Seunghyun gasp. It was huge for a bathroom, with what looked like green marble for the floor and the counter as well as the shower walls. The door to the shower was glass with a stainless steel door handle and the sink along with the toilet looked like they were of the most expensive ceramic material available on the market. Behind the sink was a large rectangular mirror that stretched up to the ceiling, and the ceiling looked at least nine feet tall. “I’ve had the whole house remodeled after I found this thing at such an ideal location. It looks good doesn’t it? I’ve designed every room in this house myself.”
“It looks amazing…” Seunghyun agreed. And suddenly he wondered what this man did for a living in order to be able to afford all of these things. First a Bentley and now a remodeled, secluded house. What next? That he owned a yacht?
“The towels are here in the cupboard under the sink. I don’t even think that they’ve been used. But you can use anything in this bathroom and like I said, don’t hesitate to ask me for anything. Anyway, I think the coffee is wearing off and I better get to bed.” He smiled before pinching Seunghyun’s cheek. “Goodnight~”
“G-goodnight.” The touch had the older man stuttering as he watched the other man walk out of the bathroom and down the hall.
Seunghyun turned on the shower and waited for it to heat up, looking around the cupboard in the meantime. There were all sorts of toiletries and it made it feel like he was in a hotel rather than someone’s house. He climbed into the shower and let it relax him and for the second time that day, try to wash away his thoughts about the younger man. Everything about how mysterious, attractive and rich he was. He still decided to give him some time around the other to truly realize how he felt about him and not jump to conclusions.
After he had dried himself he walked into his bedroom and found a pair of pajamas on his bed with a little note on top of them: I thought you might need these :). He laughed at how the other man drew a smiley face at the end of it and it made him think he was all the cuter. He put on the pajamas and climbed into the bed, leaving the curtains open to see the city lights as he fell asleep. As he lay there he couldn’t stop thinking about the other and how he possibly felt for him. Why else would he have let him stay in his house? Why did he want to protect him? Was it out of pity? And what about his past? Surely something had happened to make him cry that way when recalling his time with the vampires… Seunghyun figured that only time will tell and that he would open up to him when he felt like it.
A/N: I hope you like it since it was kind of rushed ^^; oh and if you don't know who Miku or An Cafe are I suggest you look him up and listen to them, they're an amazing band<3
