Chapter 7.
Kazuya is happy. He was really happy after the small party the people in the estate and his brother had prepared. It lifted his spirits and the smile was never wiped off his face. Everyday, Kazuya is with Jin, going out for drives in the nearby highways or going shopping. Sometimes they’d hang out in the orchards and have a small picnic or lunch under the big fruit trees or they would just stay in Kazuya’s bedroom playing with the gifts and have them described again and again.
Jin was slowly having a change of heart. Every time he spent an hour or a day with Kazuya he feels light. He feels something tugging in his chest and he would forget his motives on why he is taking Koji’s role. He had grown fond of the boy and he knew he’s lying and someday he’ll be discovered. He knew it will happen, but it can’t happen now. Not yet. He still had a lot of things to get done and he doesn’t want to hurt Kazuya.
He might not forgive himself if he did so.
“Nii-chan, shall we go to the beach once? I want to know what it’s like…it’s been too long since I’ve gone there.” Kazuya asked as they had another lunch in the orchard.
“Hmm. If you’re going to be a good boy, I shall take you there.”
“But I am always a good boy.” Kazuya replied, tilting his head up.
Jin chuckled at Kazuya’s reaction. True Kazuya had been a good boy but he doesn’t want to take Kazuya away from the estate yet. It would be quite difficult. Jin had sensed the Matsumoto’s been spying on him. He once saw one of Matsumoto’s boys in a nearby café when they went out shopping once. If Kazuya gets involved, he had hell to pay.
“Nii-chan…”
“Hai, Kazu…not now, but someday, I’ll take you there. You just have to wait, okay.” Jin said as he ruffled Kazuya’s hair.
“Mm. I promise to be always a good boy…for Nii-chan.” Kazuya said smiling at Jin.
Jin smiled lovingly and pulled Kazuya in a hug, surprising the younger boy. “You’ve always been a good boy.”
Kazuya leaned in to the hg and smelled the fragrance of his brother. After the accident, this had been the first he was able to hug someone.
Matsumoto sat in his big office chair, moving it from side to side, his hand splayed over the table as he watched several photographs lay in front of him. He had been sending spies over Akanishi Jin to ensure that the man had not ran away from his debts and he was surprised about what he had found out. It seemed to him that Jin had hit the jackpot role playing Kamenashi Kojiro. Ahh, Kojiro, he thought, the man wasn’t able to pay him back plus he made some trouble with him so he decided to sabotage the man’s car after clubbing sessions to ease his anger.
And it paid off. Kojiro paid dearly with his life.
It made Matsumoto satisfied in a way.
Nobody knew why Matsumoto had a grudge against the four friends. Maybe it was because Kojiro’s brash attitude with him or maybe it was Jin’s cockiness or maybe it was because Ryo and Tomohisa were always indifferent. Even Jun couldn’t tell himself why he hated the four of them.
“Yokoyama,” Jun called out. A man in his late twenties came in, dressed in a black expensive suit. “I want you to make contact with Akanishi’s supposed to be brother. Ask him things…you know, like poison his mind.”
“Yes boss.”
After Yokoyama left in Jun’s office, Matsumot quickly dialed a familiar number. A few rings later and the other line picked up.
“Hello, Akanishi. I’m sure you still remember me and what you owe me right?”
Jin sat on his bed fiddling with his mobile phone Matsumoto had called him demanding him of what he owed the man. It would seem to anyone like it was a friendly call but it was masked with subtle threats. Jin tried hard to convince Kazuya that it was a long time friend though he knew Kazuya might know it wasn’t from the hard tone of his voice during the call.
A loud knock on his door prompted Jin from his thoughts. “Who is it?” He called out.
“Nii-chan?”
The uncertainty in Kazuya’s voice made Jin feel something odd. He got up from the bed and walked towards the door to open it.
“What are you doing walking around? It’s late, you should be in bed.” Jin chastised the young man.
Kazuya smiled sheepishly. “I couldn’t sleep. I was worried about you.”
“Eh? You don’t have to worry about me.” Jin said, chuckling at Kazuya’s words.
“Mou nii-chan, you don’t have to laugh.”
Jin ruffled Kazuya’s hair. “I know, sorry. Want to spend the night with me?” He asked the younger boy as he led him to the bed.”
“Un!” Kazuya answered enthusiastically.
As the two laid comfortably, Jin holding Kazuya close to him, the two were still sleepless.
“Ne, Nii-chan, sing me a song.”
“Eh?”
“Please. Like you always do.”
Jin thought first before giving in to the younger boy’s request. “Fine, just one song.”
Jin started to sing and when the song ended, he turned to find Kazuya already sleeping. Jin smiled at the younger boy’s picture.
“I’m sorry I lied to you.” He said as he stroked Kazuya’s face. For a few moments, Jin just stared at the sleeping Kazuya. He was in a serious mode that night, thinking of what he ought to do. Jin had to pay back Matsumoto but in return, he might hurt Kazuya, and like he said, he won’t be able to forgive Kazuya if he was the one who hurt him.
Jin decided that he would think of what to do first thing in the morning. He placed a soft kiss on Kazuya’s forehead before turning in to sleep.
“Oyasumi.”
