i just talked with my roommate, christine, about the apt for the fall. the lady who owns the place is coming back for the summer, but i'd love to have this place back for the fall when i start full-time at calhoun. i told christine that i am interested, and she said she is thinking about getting it back as well. i'm not sure what my next move

do you really like that place that much? i would HATE living without a door, and it doesn't seem like you can really put up anything close to one... i feel like christine really should charge you less if you stay and she gets the room. also, the lease thing is sketch. it can either be really good, i.e. you can just run, or bad where you might get kicked out yadda. but those are extremes. i dunno. are you staying here this summer? why don't you just find a more permanent place if you are so you don't have to move twice? oh i dunno. i hate apartment decisions. sigh. but anyhow, that's my two cents.

i pretty much agree that no door is terrible and i should be compensated for it. the thing is, this apt is SO close to calhoun, and it is such a joy to be able to walk to work. i love this neighborhood. but then again, maybe i am just loving this apt so much lately because christine has been in london for the past 10 days. well, she got back today. i guess we'll see how i feel in a few days.

i'll bet there's some opportunities to rent rooms in rent-controlled apartments on the UWS. i would make a good effort to line something up - you're a golden child, sweetheart, and i have no doubt you will be able to find a place that fulfills your fantasies of closed doors and private naked moments.
don't worry about christina, either. all's fair in love and real estate.
