Last night I had a dream in which a group of high school kids outside a little prefab house in the middle of nowhere snorted some drug (brain supplied LSD, though I have no idea if that's how you take it), then a zoom in on the house, the little papers fluttering around in the driveway, while inside the house (suddenly far larger) they were jumping around like maniacs from the balconies of the open third-floor gallery and oddly not dying.

Then I lived in transfer housing again, but my Humanities class from high school lived there with me; we puttered around the kitchen a lot, and it was all very cozy. Going upstairs revealed the house to be larger and older than expected, with more residents and everyone curiously uncaring about their modesty. I was especially surprised and pleased with the lovely old tiled bathroom with Victorian-looking fixtures and a large communal bathtub like something you might see at a sentou.

Yeah my dreams have been kind of boring and plotless lately, but I've been busy and not sleeping so much. Also it's gotten to the point where I always wake up in the middle of the night when I have caffeine during the day -- which sucks, because the iced tea at work is my staple beverage and it doesn't come in decaf, woes.

Though I have no excuse, really, since I was lazy all weekend (my birthday was yesterday, so I took off). Spent it with bard_linn and the family (my sisters both came home from college); received a warm scarf, a barrette, and a promise of "anything that comes in the mail with my name on it is for you, so you can open it" from my sisters (I know she bought me Mutuality, the CLAMP artbook for Code Geass, as well as something else). bard_linn's family got me a thinpack box of the first season of Babylon 5, and she herself finally gave me what she's been holding over me since at least March: the entirety of X, in the original Japanese (while I'd guessed it a while back, I didn't count on her including the five volumes of Asuka with the chapters published after volume 18 and before the hiatus began)! The cover design is so much nicer than the English version, really, that it's not even funny (and I'm stupidly happy that they have the better-fitting characters for the major arcana, corresponding to volume numbers, than they do in the X tarot set). I've started the first volume already, and since I've read it so many times in English I can get the gist of things even when I don't understand them specifically (I'm eternally grateful for the furigana, oh yes).

Fun facts: Kotori refers to herself in the third person, except when she's speaking to Tokiko in the nurse's office after her collapse (where her pronoun of choice is 私). Kamui uses 僕 as a little kid and 俺 in present-time, whereas Fuuma's an 俺 user all the way through. And there's one point at which they write "現実" but mark it to be read as "ほんとう" -- these are the wonderfully interesting little details you lose in translation. ♥

Busy week ahead: got my allergist appointment in an hour and a half and class after that, trip to the NYPL tomorrow, paper due for the class after that, and my usual minimum-wage fast-food work/library volunteering/professor bibliography work the rest of the week -- except now, since Marina's going back to Mexico, I'm opening on Fridays (4:30 am, fun times) so I have less time to work on Thursday nights if I want to get enough sleep to not be a colossal bitch to customers in the morning. Meh.

Time to go back to being productive...
