"Great. Now I have your germs all over me."
“Great. Now I have your germs all over me.” Satoshi heard the moment he entered their house. He groaned and was close to leaving again when he heard that.
“It’s not as if I don’t have your germs all over me,” was the answered snort. Kazu growled and Satoshi rolled his eyes when there were twin coughs.
If he had thought that it was stressful to have two preschoolers ill at the same time, teenagers Kazu and Jun were the horror. They had their rooms since they both turned fourteen a few weeks ago, but tended to share a bunk bed still more often than not. Both explained that it was strange to not sleep together.
It was okay, Satoshi supposed, they slept alone at least as often as together after all and had their friend groups. Now they both had caught a cold with a slight fever and had to stay at home. With undeniable logic, they had explained to Satoshi that it would make the most sense if they slept in the same room to make it easier for him to check up on them.
Instead of being in Kazu’s room with the bunk bed, they decided to sleep in Jun’s room with a big king’s sized bed as both tended to feel slightly dizzy, and it was way easier if any of them had to get out of bed.
The only problem was that the twins had gotten almost no sleep the night before keeping each other awake with their coughing and moaning, so today they were almost unbearable. Satoshi had left them to their bickering earlier to get some ingredients for a vegetable soup and take their dog for a quick walk.
He had hoped that they would have fallen to sleep again by the time he came back but no such luck. He sighed, patting the dog, who instead of going to his two favourite masters lay on his dog cushion. “Good choice,” Satoshi snickered as he put down his groceries and prepared instead a tray with some tea and new medicine for the boys.
“How are you two feeling?”
“J is getting on my nerves.”
“Kazu is annoying.”
Satoshi rolled his eyes, as he handed out a thermometer to Kazu first and gave Jun a pill. “You know you can go to your separate rooms anytime,” he said patiently.
“NOOOO!” Jun cried out, while Kazu shook his head hard, knowing about the wrath if he spat out the thermometer.
Satoshi shook his head and noted down the temperature for Sho later when he would leave for a work meeting when the younger would arrive home. After disinfecting the thermometer it went to Jun who grimaced slightly at the taste while coaxing Kazu to take his hated pill.
“Tonight will be vegetable soup. I’ll prepare it and Sho will warm it up for you. Do you want chicken in it?”
Kazu shook his head while Jun nodded and Satoshi wrote that down as well for Sho later tonight. There was no use to have Kazu throw up because he didn’t feel like chicken after all.
“How’s your head?”
“Better now,” Kazu mumbled while Jun nodded, yawning slightly.
Satoshi helped them to wipe their faces before making sure they were both well covered and leaving them when he could tell they were almost falling asleep already.
