Lost & Found (Chapter 64)

Nino felt close to fainting as he followed Jun to the doctor’s office. He had to remind himself to breathe evenly as he felt like running away and at the same time, like not moving at all. Jun’s arm around his waist seemed to be the only thing keeping him close and safe. He drew as much comfort from Jun as possible, knowing that Jun didn’t mind, which helped a lot. Jun had always been stronger than him, and it showed at moments like this. He feared so much that the doctor would tell them that Ohno’s body repelled the new bone marrow while Jun was sure the opposite was true.

Nino wished fervently that Jun was right, but he knew that whatever it was the doctor would tell them soon enough.

“Good morning, Ninomiya-san, Matsumoto-san,” the doctor said with a small smile, and Nino felt like breathing was slightly more comfortable now. The smile had to mean something good, right? Or was it just so that they would relay and the truth was something terrible?

“Good morning, sensei,” Jun said, nudging Nino who managed a small nod into the direction of the doctor. Luckily the man didn’t seem to be offended, but Nino felt like he had lost all ability to talk right now.

“Sit down, please.” Jun did as he was told and Nino sat on the second chair a bit shakily. Sitting meant that there was bad news, right? Or did it just mean that the talk was something that would need longer because they were allowed to visit again or could finally prepare their home for welcoming Ohno back? God how much he wished for that.

“Sensei, how is Satoshi?”

“The transplantation went well. The count has gone up already, and I believe that by the end of the month, you can take him home,” he explained with a smile. “If he doesn’t get ill of course, neither you two should get ill right now because I can’t send him home somewhere with such a high risk.”

“Of course, sensei. Kazu and I are staying mostly home, isolating ourselves already to make sure that we won’t take any infections home. If Satoshi is allowed home, we’ll make sure to disinfect the rooms again, as we did last time and minimise our contacts even more.”

“Is he really okay?” Nino managed to ask, ignoring that they had already gone over that, but he needed the clarification again.

“Yes, he has gotten better, I want to update you two about what happens now and what to look out for and then after we took your temperature and I can clear you both you can go and visit him even. Same procedure as before he was isolated though.”

Nino nodded, pressing his hands against his mouth as to not cry out loud. “Thank you,” he pressed out. The doctor smiled at the man for a second, before focusing again on the things he needed to tell them and make sure to prepare all the forms Jun and Nino would need and information fliers for later, as he was convinced that they took only half of what he told them in right now.

-

“Your eyes are red,” Jun said with a chuckle. He kissed his nose, and Nino pouted slightly.

“I’m not crying,” he said.

“Almost,” he whispered and kissed his lips again. Nino sighed and hugged him for a second, smiling when he listened to the soft sniffles of Jun.

“My crybaby. You and Ohno are worse than me so that you know,” he whispered.

“I’m just so happy,” he whispered.

“As am I,” Nino breathed and finally stepped back. He threaded his fingers through Jun’s hair, before holding the back of his head again to kiss his lips, cheek and eyes. “We got good news.”

“That we did. And I don’t know if they told Satoshi already knows. So us coming in crying might put him into a panic,” Jun reminded him.

Nino sighed and nodded. “He knows we are emotional. And he will realise it’s good that we are allowed in.” He was sure that Ohno was not going to judge them or panic at seeing them right now, but of course, Jun was right. He didn’t want to worry the other man.

“And it’s unhygienic,” Jun added with a frown.

Nino giggled and kissed him again. “Only you,” he teased, kissing him again, before finally letting go. He took a deep breath to calm down again and then intertwined his fingers with Jun’s as they walked through the long hallways of the hospital to the room their lover was in.

There he let Jun go first through the first room, signing to Ohno that they were coming in and making funny grimaces to make the older smile. As Ohno was awake and looked more alert than he had done for weeks now, Nino was sure that Ohno already knew that he was getting better. He grinned when Jun appeared in front of the window, rolling his eyes at him and pointing to the room to change and clean himself up.

Ohno’s warm chuckle greeted him as he finally was in Ohno’s room and he went over to caress his cheek with his fingertips for a second, before settling down on Jun’s lap since again there was only one chair in Ohno’s room.

“Hey, old man, how are you feeling?”

“Tired,” Ohno said with a small pout. “But it’s good to feel something finally.” He wrinkled his nose as he tried to form more words but found himself at a loss of words since it was hard to explain how he felt. He had felt tired, exhausted even, but he had felt so bad that nothing registered so this was better.

“That’s good then, I suppose,” Nino said with a tilted head, smiling when Jun’s arm came around his waist before the second one joined his on top of Ohno’s hand.

“I’m glad that your body is finally healing,” Jun whispered. “I was scared to lose you, you know? You looked awful.”

“I’m sorry,” Ohno whispered, and Jun shrugged. It was not as if Ohno could help it. He was just glad that the worst seemed to be over.

“They told me that if I’m good and if I keep up like now I am allowed to come home soon.”

“Sensei told us the same. And he gave J lots of pamphlets to make sure our home is well equipped for you when you come,” Nino said, grinning when Jun pinched him slightly.

“He gave them to us both. You were just too choked up to take them,” he snorted.

“Did I make you cry again?” Ohno asked in a worried tone.

“It seems as if I’m a crybaby when it comes to you two. Which is a lot better than you both who cry at romance dramas,” he grumbled.

“Kaz is a romantic at heart,” Jun teased him, smiling when Ohno giggled slightly at the red face of Nino.

“I’ll look forward of havening you home soon,” Nino whispered, and Ohno nodded in agreement. After all, he felt the same. If one would ask him, he thought that he stayed here long enough already.

“Soon,” Ohno agreed and squeezed their fingers. “But first I get out of here,” he said gesturing to the isolation room he was in. “That I will appreciate.”

“Me too, that means we can cuddle,” Nino piped up, grinning when a happy smile appeared on Ohno’s face at the thought of being allowed to cuddle with his lovers.

“And kissing,” Ohno agreed. He missed kissing more than sex, and he knew that they still needed to wait longer until that would happen, but kissing and snuggling up was already a big step forward in his mind.

Jun and Nino agreed silently and then they started to talk about what they did at home, while Ohno wanted to know how their cats were doing and how Nino managed to make Jun sing one of his favourite songs for the tape he had brought him.

-

“You are in a good mood,” Ohno observed with a smile as he watched Nino rummaging through his cupboard singing one of his favourite songs from the latest album he had brought out before he went into hiatus because of Ohno’s health.

“I get to bring you home today. So, of course, I am delighted,” Nino said with a wrinkled forehead. He stuck out his tongue when he saw Ohno smirking from the bed. “You’re awful.”

“You’re very cute,” Ohno said and held out his hand for Nino to come closer. Nino did so after he checked he cupboard again and sat on his lap.

“I can’t believe that you’ll be home very soon.”

“Me neither, but I promise the cupboard is really empty. You already checked it three times. Why are you nervous?”

“Because somehow I fear that sensei is coming in and telling us that he can’t sign your papers.”

“That won’t happen. I’m okay, and my morning check-up was perfect.”

“So you say, but I can’t help it.”

“It’s lucky that we are not all as pessimistic as you are. Where is Jun, by the way?”

“Jun is home, yelling at people during a video call. I don’t know what it’s about.”

“Huh…”

“Yeah he wanted to be here, but something came up, and since he works remotely for now for a few more weeks until you are a bit stronger, and would be allowed to go out. Then he will start heading for work again regularly. Now it’s only for emergencies.”

“Aww cute, I love you both. You are always so accommodating. What is with your work?”

“I will start again making music at home. Not so much at the agency. We want to make sure that one of us is at home with you and I don’t want to hear any arguments about that. Let us pamper you for a bit.”

“I wasn’t going to argue. I know it calms you both and I know that I shouldn’t make any jokes with my health for a while.”

“Preferably never, but I know you are an awful person when it comes to that.”

Ohno grinned and pressed his lips against Nino’s temple. “Sorry, you are allowed to hit me if I do such a thing.”

“Good to know,” Nino giggled and caressed his cheek as there was a knock. They separated slightly, and Nino greeted the doctor, who smiled at them.

“Ohno-san I got your papers. Now you are officially discharged. Please head to the front desk.”

“Of course, sensei. Thank you.”

“And we’ll see you again in two weeks for a check-up.”

“Of course, I got the schedule already from Aiba-san,” Ohno explained, and Nino nodded since he had already studied it.

“Then you are ready to go, and I’m glad to see you so well again.”

“Me too,” Nino mumbled, and Ohno giggled as he nodded. He could understand the sentiment very well, after all.

The doctor left, and Nino cheered slightly as Ohno hugged him tighter. “See, I told you, I’m all good.”

“Don’t be so smug. Let me check the bath another time and wear the cardigan, so you don’t get cold, and off we go.”

“Aye, aye, sir,” Ohno grinned and Nino went to check once more before taking the bag and leading Ohno outside. Ohno paid at the front desk and got the rest of his papers before they left the hospital. Nino made sure that Ohno wore a mask and was safely in the car before bringing them home.

At home, Jun had already finished yelling at whoever he was talking to before and greeted them with curry for lunch as it had all the things that Ohno was allowed to eat and it was his favourite.

“It smells wonderful in here,” Ohno almost moaned when he was in the living room, greeting Jun who grinned and hugged him tightly.

“Welcome home, Satoshi.”

“It’s good to be home.”

Nino grinned and kissed Jun. “Did you make someone cry today?”

Jun glared at him and poked his side. “You are a blabbermouth.”

“Nah, I just like it when you are angry at someone. It’s fun seeing you argue with someone who did something wrong.”

“Brat,” Jun said and chuckled as he kissed him. “Okay, off you go, wash your hands and face, lunch is ready.”

“Okay.”

“Where are Yuna and Tomo?”

“Out, they were getting rowdy. Don’t worry, you will see them soon enough.”

Ohno pouted but nodded as he was dragged by Nino to clean and then finally got his first home-cooked meal after way too long.
