Holy crap this movie is right up my alley. It's a new French film about a silent film star ( named George Valentin) whose career declines due to the rise of talkies while a new actress stardom rises. And the film is completely silent as a tribute to silent films. XD
It sounds like a cross of A Star is Born with the real life story of John Gilbert (okay there were a lot of film stars whose career declined with talkies but his story is one of the most famous). The name of course is a play on Rudolph Valentino (who never had to worry about talkies because he died before they became an issue).

This better get released at my art house theaters soon. I was hoping it would already be out this Monday since I have to go downtown but alas it doesn't seem to be the case.
There really seems to be a 1920's revival recently with films like Midnight in Paris (which I really enjoyed), TV shows like Boardwalk Empire (which I have not seen), & now this. Not that I am complaining I love the 1920's. :D
