Tiger & Bunny~ Super Hero Buddy Cops
Which should be renamed to the Everyone Should Worship Kotetsu T. Kaburagi Show & I mean that quite literally because he is such a fantastic main character. In many ways he is what makes Tiger & Bunny stand above the pack.
I had heard about Tiger & Bunny for awhile but initially I wasn't that interested because 1) I am sort of getting tired of the whole Super Hero thing & 2) I don't usually like when anime tackles American genres.
I was also kind of worried that this series would be closer to those Madhouse/Marvel adapdations but luckily that is not the case.
Tiger & Bunny is a fun super hero show. It doesn't really present anything that new for the genre (except maybe the branding of the heroes but unfortunately it doesn't explore this to its fullest potential) & it doesn't escape the cliches of the genre but who cares because you should still enjoy the ride.
However besides being a super hero show Tiger & Bunny is also a really good "Buddy Cop" show. I kind of wish I had known this sooner. I mean I know this show makes Fujoshi fans swoon but I've always had a weakness for "Buddy Cop Series". For me the development of the partnership/friendship of Kotetsu (Tiger) & Barnaby (Bunny) is the highlight of the series.
As I said earlier Kotetsu is probably the stand out character of the two. He's dorky yet cool at the same time. He might not be the brightest in some aspects but overtime you can understand why he's such an inspiring character. His partner Barnaby is the angsty one of the pair dealing with an issue similar to Batman. He honestly annoyed me at first but he definitely grows on you in the end. Probably because he starts appreciating his partner (since I said this is a Buddy Cop Show I don't think that is a spoiler).
Like I said everyone should worship Kotetsu because he is just that awesome. Oh and he is also voiced by Hiroaki Hirata (Sanji from One Piece) who does an amazing job. I think Tiger & Bunny would be the perfect series for a dub and yet I am not sure if I can accept anyone but Hirata as Tiger.
The series also has a bunch of other secondary heroes, most get their own episode but only the female hero Blue Rose really stands out to me. The series has 3 main villains and again only one stood out to me. Luckily that one should be back! And I am not saying who on purpose.
Besides the partnership between Tiger & Bunny my favorite aspect of the series was definitely Kotetsu as a hero somewhat past his prime plus a single father of a 10 year old daughter to boot. The episodes dealing with this aspect (specifically 16 & 17) were my favorites of the series. Kotetsu daughter Kaede is also a great character.
As for the ending of the series it's satisfying if not amazing. I think part of the reason it doesn't reach amazing is because the show is set up for a continuation (with the high sales a second season is pretty much guaranteed) so they had to play it a bit safe.
So final verdict maybe not the greatest series ever but I definitely had a lot of fun.

I also really really want this Kotetsu Figure and while I know where to order him I can't justify spending that money. It's a lose lose situation because when I do have the money he will be either sold out or way more expensive.
I'll just hope they will release cheaper figures of him & Barnaby someday!
