I actually don't have any real complaints about this episode at all. Hence it is one of the few that got a perfect 10. Well actually it's not true that I have no complaints but those complaints are more related to decisions that Bones made in earlier episodes and not really in regards to this episode
Overall this episode contained the parts in chapter 35 and 36 not covered by the last episode. They also included a little of chapter 37 but it looks like most of that chapter will be covered in the next episode along with the parts of Ed going to Xerxes (which actually makes me a bit nervous because that does feel like a lot to cover next week).
Anyways pretty much everything in chapter 35 and 36 was covered this week. The only thing I can recall them leaving out is showing Falman knocked out (unless I missed it) but from the scenes they did show it is still implied he has no idea what is going on.
They even still had the newspaper scene but of course since they already knew Hughes had died it doesn't have quite the same impact as it does in the manga. And of course the scene with Winry finding the newspaper accidentally is skipped because she also already knows about Hughes.
But they have Maria Ross in questioning, Barry breaking her out and Ling and of course the alley scene. This is in the half way mark of the episode. The scene was done very well but you almost feel it's how the episode should have ended (but the way they reshuffled scenes this isn't possible). Still emotionally it definitely hit the right notes.
Another scene that came a little earlier that was done very well was Ed asking Winry what he should do. The music and everything was perfect not to mention Ed's little smile at the end. This doesn't make up for them messing with the apple pie scene but I was quite pleased with how they handled this moment.
Oh yeah what else the scene with Barry & Ling driving Falman crazy was positively delightful.
We got to hear the beginning part of Roy flirting with Elizabeth ♥
Dr. Knox makes his appearance ♥
Oh and I just wanted to hug Armstrong. There is even an extended scene of Armstrong carrying Ed after he messes up his automail which I really liked. ♥ ♥
So in general this episode was quite well done. Hopefully with all they have to cover next week it will be equally well done. Well I guess chapter 37 is mostly action so it might not be too much extra. Although I am still not happy with the fact that they are still reshuffling events and having Xerxes come before Lust.
