Sequels & Remakes

I realized lately that I have become quite a bitch when it comes to sequels and remakes. I feel like I always put them down and I feel bad because I know there are people out there that enjoy them. And it's not like I think all sequels and remakes are bad. I mean I am watching a sort of remake of Casshern Sins. And I wonder how I would feel if fans of the original said "it sucked" because well it was different from the original (which I know it is without even watching original).

But recently I feel like I have such a relentless hatred of seeing things I love being remade and I also dislike sequels especially when things have a perfect ending (with Life on Mars the irony is there is a sequel and remakes D:).

I was also watching a little bit of the Lakes (with John Simm again) and that is another series where I refuse to watch the 2nd series because the ending of the 1st series was so perfect

Then there are things like Princess Tutu where I know a lot of fans would want a sequel but while I would watch I don't want a sequel because I feel the series is perfect as is and I really think a sequel could hurt that.

Then there is the Gurren Lagann movies. I know a lot of fans are excited about seeing this but as for me while I will watch I think the idea of them is a big waste of time. I loved the series I don't need to see it condensed into a 2 movies with a few added scenes.

I am not even sure how I feel about the new Hagaren series. I am happy they are making something to follow the manga but I still feel it is unnecessary as I do think FMA worked well as two separate entities, the manga & anime (and it doesn't even look like they will be following the manga exactly, at least not from the early scenes). Although I admit part of me is excited the other part of me is worried.

I do know all entertainment is about money but I guess I hate seeing things I love milked. I want to be left wanting more I don't want to get sick of something I loved. But I feel for the entertainment industry and even many fans it's all about more. Whereas I like to be content with what I got and instead look for something new to enjoy.

Of course this doesn't extend to a sequel of Haruhi Suzumiya for example because that is based on an ongoing novel series. That is something I really would want a sequel of.

I don't think I've used that many tags in awhile XD

Oh yes and besides that little rant I also want to wish a very Happy Birthday to badseafood.

princess tutu, john simm, gurren lagann, birthday, life on mars, casshern sins, hagaren
