Coraline Movie

I saw this today and really enjoyed it (first movie I saw in about 1/2 a year). Although some of the character designs looked odd to me the background/scenery sets and animation was awesome. I didn't get to see it in 3D (we couldn't find a theater that was close) but I can imagine it looked incredible in 3D. Of and the cat of course was awesome, Coraline and the cat were my favorites. :)

Overall despite a few changes the movie did get the feel of the story down except one thing which both my friend and I were extremely disappointed in

Okay in the movie there is an additional boy character. I think they added him since in the book we read Coraline's thoughts, but this harder to convey in a movie, so they have another kid with her (they did something similar with Juuni Kokki, adding classmates with Youko). However this new character didn't distract too much and his "other self" was creepy and a little sad. It actually added to the story.

However at the end of the movie instead of having Coraline come up with the plan to trap the "Other Mother's hand" by herself and her own intelligence (which she does in the book). They have the boy come to the rescue. My friend and I were both really annoyed.

Also my friend was annoyed because the guy was speaking Russian incorrectly and he was so stereotypical, but that complaint was more minor and we were amused by him.

Oh and I did think the book was creepier, but that isn't the fault of the movie. It looked great but there is something that adds creepiness when you leave it up to your imagination.

Oh and Happy Valentines Day Everyone
