Congratulations Neil Gaiman
So apparently the Graveyard Book was awarded the Newbery Medal (top prize for Children's Literature) for 2009. Okay I have not read many new children's books this year but I still think it is entirely deserving and I was so happy to hear this. Not to mention I bet the Graveyard Book is more entertaining then most of the movies nominated for the Oscars this year :)
I think not many authors can claim to win both the Hugo and Newbery Medal. But I guess that is the thing about Neil Gaiman he can write for many different genres and audiences. Heck he can even write in different formats (books, comics, screenplays, translations.) He is one of those authors where even if you don't like one of his books, there is a good chance you might like something else he has written.
And he gets bonus points for being a pretty cool and down to earth guy (read his blog to see what I mean)
