Denis Prost handed a cup of coffee to his fur-clad models. “As soon as you’re warm enough we need to try again, that last shot didn’t come out.” The girls nodded, but the younger of the two pouted.

“Why’d it have to be so cold?” she whined.

“It’s snowing that’s why.” Denis sighed. “That’s what screwed up the last shot. So let’s hurry and if these look good, we won’t have to do this tomorrow.”

“Okay,” Denis’ girlfriend Michelle, who was one of the models, said.

“Break time’s over,” Denis said as he looked at his watch. “Now get into position.”

They all walked over to the wooden bridge and once the girls were in position, they handed their furs to Denis’ assistant. Since they were not wearing much more than a pair of boots and a smile, Denis took as many pictures as he could, all the while giving them instructions on what they should do. He nearly lost it when the younger model, Cassie, touched Michelle’s hairless sex.

Cassie was sexy if one liked a blonde, girl next door type and she was fun to work with, even though she complained a lot, but she had nothing on Michelle in Denis’ humble opinion. Michelle was what he called “exotic.” She was bi-racial, had a southern drawl that practically oozed with honey, with a body to die for. Denis had met her in New Orleans when he went down there to shoot the aftermath of Katrina, and had fallen in love with her almost from the start. Since Denis could turn on the charm when he wanted to, a talent that helped whenever he was shooting boudoir pictures of chubby middle-aged housewives, he soon had her life story.

He had learned she sang in the church choir growing up and put herself through college by working in Starbucks in the mornings and posing nude for school’s art department two nights a week. When he asked her about it, Michelle replied by telling him, “That’s how God made Adam and Eve, and if it was good enough for them, then it was good enough for me, and besides, it paid the bills and beat whoring by a long shot.” So unlike most of the models he had worked with, she was comfortable in her skin.

She knew about Denis’ background; how he grew up as a foster kid in a single parent household, along with his foster father’s grandsons and another foster brother. Eventually the man adopted him and his other foster brother. Michelle found it funny that he had a reputation for a being a pervert like said adoptive father, which he claimed was nothing more than a love of all things female. She liked that he let her set the pace of their relationship, so when they finally did sleep together, the night she finally moved in with him, Michelle found him to be a sweet and considerate lover. She loved that he was very faithful to her despite the parade of naked women in and out of his studio.

So when Denis asked for one more set of photos, Michelle readily agreed. She walked off the bridge and into the snow. Shivering, she frolicked like a little kid, trying to build some body heat. Cassie reluctantly joined her and the two models scampered around like a pair of snow bunnies. Denis kept clicking away, shooting everything they did from the impromptu snowball fight to Michelle’s naked snow angel. “Okay! That’s it for today! Maybe we can get one more shot by the fire tonight and I’ll call it a wrap.”

The girls hurried over to where their coats were and quickly put them on.

“That’s it for me, Denis,” Cassie said. “I want to get home in case this turns into a lot more snow than predicted.”

“Sure thing. Thanks, Cassie,” Denis said as he packed up his camera equipment.

“No problem.” She grinned. “You’d better hope I don’t get pneumonia from this.”

“I hope not. You want more coffee?”

“Nah, I just want to go back to my room and get dressed, and then I’m going home. Give me a call when they’re processed.”

“Okay. See you then!” Denis felt Michelle wrap her arms around him from behind. He leaned back in her embrace. “What?”

“Do you want to go play in the snow?”

“Aren’t you afraid of getting sick?”

“Nah… And no, I’m not afraid of the cold. Trust me; growing up in New Orleans, I’ve had my share of heat and humidity and then some. I like the snow. It’s cold and pretty and I want to do it out here and I don’t care who sees us.”

“If you put it that way, mon chérie, then who am I to say no?”

She giggled. “That’s right! So hurry up and get naked, boy!”

“Will do!” Denis closed his camera bag. He stood up and unzipped his jacket, shrugging out of it, he tossed it onto his bag. His flannel shirt soon followed along with the thermal Henley he wore underneath it. When it came time to get out of his jean, Denis ran into a problem. He stood there with his jeans around his ankles. They were stuck on his boots. “Michelle?”

Turning around, she laughed. “Denis, just drop your drawers and let’s go. I’m starting to get cold.”

Denis eagerly complied, and waddling over to her, he bent his girlfriend over the side of the bridge. He was just as cold as she was, but having sex out in the open as well as snow, soon got his blood pumping. It may have been a quick one, but they were pushing their luck as it was. He pulled out and while he quickly dressed, Michelle threw on the fur coat.

“Any more coffee?” she asked.

“I think so.”

While Michelle drank her coffee, Denis carried his equipment back to the lodge. They headed straight to their room as soon as they entered. Having the elevator to themselves, Denis stole a few kisses before the door pinged open and they were on their floor. The short walk down the hall seemed to take forever in Denis’ humble opinion. He was eager to get started on processing his pictures.

“Sugar, I’m going to go take a hot bath.”

“Yeah. I hope no one gets sick.”

Michelle nodded. She hung up her fur and took off her boots. Padding naked over to her side of the bed, she grabbed her book and headed into the bathroom. Denis heard the sound of water running as he got out his memory cards and turned on his laptop. So while his girlfriend soaked in the tub, he worked on his photos. Twenty minutes later, when she came out of the bathroom, Denis was still hard at work, so she lay on the sofa and watched the TV in their room.

Feeling hungry and knowing better than to disturb her boyfriend, Michelle ordered room service. When it arrived, she grabbed some money and put on her robe. Opening the door, she accepted their dinner. She closed the door, and bringing the tray over to Denis, she said, “Dinner’s here, Sugar.”

“Hunh?” Denis looked up from his laptop.

“Dinner’s here.” Michelle took a bite of her burger. Getting up, he came over to her and they picnicked on the bed. She was dying to know how the photos came out, but said nothing. Denis would not only let her know, but he would show her his work in progress when he was ready. They watched TV while they ate, talking about everything and anything. When they finished eating, he went back to work, sorting the images and processing his photographs.

After a while, Denis came to bed. He took his time making love to her, especially since he had spent most of the evening working and he wanted to make it up to her. When they were done, they fell asleep wrapped in each other’s arms.

Waking up the next morning, Denis got out of bed. After he finished his morning routine, he started the coffee maker, so that he could have a cup while he packed his things. They were leaving today and while it was a fun shoot, Denis could not wait to get home to their apartment.

“Come’re, Sugar! You’ve got to see this!” Michelle called out. She was standing in front of the window, the curtains only partially drawn.

Denis padded over to her. It was bright, and closing his eyes, he wrapped his arms around her from behind. “What is it?” he murmured pushing the robe off his girlfriend’s shoulder. He kissed Michelle’s bare shoulder.

“Look…” she said softly.

He cracked open his eyes and peered over her shoulder. “Whoa…”

“Yeah.” Michelle giggled. “It’s beautiful, isn’t it?”

“Very.”

“Maybe we should stay another day or two and then you can photograph it.”

“You think?”

She nodded. “Maybe a book about nature will sell better than one with girls au natural.”

Denis frowned.

“It’s not that I don’t enjoy modeling for you, Sugar, or being the star of your book, it’s just that I think that’ll make more money.” She turned around in his arms to face him. “If you want, you can always post those images on your site.”

“I could…” Denis thought it over.

“So let’s get dressed, see if we can check out tomorrow, and go for a walk in the woods with your camera.”

“Sounds like a plan.”

“It is.” Michelle smiled at him. Cupping his cheeks, she kissed him.

A few minutes later, they were downstairs, arranging to stay another day. When that was settled, the two of them went for a walk on the lodge’s grounds. Denis stopped every so often to take pictures. He soon filled a couple of empty memory cards with shots of everything from the trees, to birds, to some deer, to a pair a bunnies they startled out of their hiding place. When he felt he had enough material for a book, they went back inside and had a late lunch. Denis also went out before dinner and took several shots of the moon as it rose above the tree line as well as the surrounding area in the dark.

He decided to wait until they got back, before processing the photos. He took his time with it and the notes he had jotted down were fleshed out and became the text for the book, he decided to call Snow Bunnies the title he was planning to use for the erotic coffee table book that never saw the light of day. Thanks to his girlfriend’s suggestion, Denis found himself with what his friend Bernd called a “best seller,” despite only selling about a hundred copies. It sparked a love of nature photography and while he still did studio work, ranging from school portraits, to boudoir photos, to street scenes, he still came back to the genre that helped make a name for himself.
