I think that it's good that the at least told you he drank, and that he didn't actually get drunk. That means that even though he did cave, he got hold of himself before it got too messy, and that was probably for you. It's really hard to break an addiction, and I know that you have to be really tough and not take any shit, but I also think that there needs to be a small amount of compassion as well, because it was his birthday, and his friends didn't know (which was his fault, but they shouldn't pressure him in the first place... that's kind of shitty), and he was really good about it for a month, and it's still at the rough beginning stages. Make him talk to his therapist about what happened and how he can avoid situations like that again, make him tell his friends, and make him cut back on weed by the time you're home - allow him a grace period, because it is really hard. But if he can't do it on his own by the time you're home, then you should consider letting him go. By then, that might be the only thing that would give him a serious wake-up call. But see what happens in the next week or so.
