sehun sat in a corner of his dimly lit room, hugging his knees. he cringed when he heard the voices of his parents downstairs, shouting and screaming at each other. his fingers dug into the thin fabric of his pajama pants. he was afraid that the material would tear but then again, he couldn't help it. not when his mother started crying. a loud slam was heard and sehun let out a relieved sigh. the roaring engine of the car and the screeching sound of the tyres against the road told sehun that his father must had had left the house, probably going to that young woman his mother was yelling about.

sehun buried his face in his arms and started sobbing. his shoulders shook so violently that he had a hard time to steady himself. he let his body rest against the cold steel frame of his bed as he let the tears wash down his cheeks. sehun hated himself. he was 16; old enough to protect his mother, protect his home. yet, he couldn't do anything. he tried to go against the man he called his "father" once, lunging himself at him when he had wanted to hurt his mother but sehun ended up beaten half-dead and his mother was left even more hurt. sehun wished he had more power, more courage.

"hey."

sehun lifted his tear stricken face, completely startled when a strange voice whispered near his ear. he focused his hazy vision, using the sleeves of his shirt to wipe the moisture away from his eyes. his breath was taken away when he saw a man, a beautiful man smiling down at him. the man wore an all-black outfit; a glittery shirt, a leather jacket with a matching tight pants and a pair of black boots. a lot of questions came up in his head but sehun couldn't bring himself to voice out any of them as he stared at the man. he was still smiling.

"don't be scared," the man said in a gentle, melodious voice. his honey blonde hair gleamed when the moonlight flickered through the window as he moved to kneel in front of sehun. but what sehun noticed most was his warm, brown eyes that seemed to delve deeply inside sehun, rocking his heart. sehun was not sure if he was imagining things but he swore he saw miniscule stars in the man's dark pupil.

"i'm luhan," the man said again as he gazed fondly at sehun. "don't worry, i'm not going to hurt you."

sehun gulped and blinked once in response. the stranger -- luhan -- beamed at him and sehun could almost feel the warmth spreading through his room. maybe it was just him though.

luhan's hand went inside his pocket and sehun watched in silence as the other pursed his lips, concentrating on whatever he was looking for. suddenly, luhan's free hand stretched out in front of sehun. grinning, he whispered, "show me your hand, sehun."

sehun's eyebrows drew together. he wanted to ask, 'how do you know my name?' but instead, he blurted out, "what for?"

"it's okay. you don't have to be afraid. it's okay," luhan said, his other hand still kept inside his pocket.

sehun obeyed because it's okay. luhan uttered those words in a much promising way and sehun quickly believed him. it was different than his mother's broken 'it's okay'; at least luhan didn't lie.

sehun held out both of his palms together, forming a small cup with his hands. he didn't see when luhan brought out his hand because it was too dark but sehun caught a glimpse of sparkly, shiny dust in luhan's fist. the glittery dust left a trail in the air before disappearing as luhan carefully moved his hand towards sehun.

sehun licked his chapped lips, his hands slightly shaking when luhan hovered his clenched fist over them. luhan's beautiful fingers were glowing and sehun realized that it was because of the sparkles in the other's palm. slowly, he unclenched his fist and sehun gasped.

from the gaps of luhan's fingers were beautiful miniscule stars, running down from luhan's palm into sehun's opening hands. the stars were so bright that sehun had to crinkle his eyes. his room was glowing, the illumination from his hands spreading out to take over the soft moonlight shine. the stars were swirling in his palms, forming random clusters of luminous constellations and patterns.

"i carry them in my pockets," luhan informed when their gazes met. "you look so sad. i'd love to see you smile once, that's why i bring them to you."

sehun wanted to cry, squeal and laugh all at once. he watched as the stars slowly rose up from his hands before gradually dissipating in the air. luhan's face had a certain glow to it as the stars disappeared. sehun stretched a smile across his face, his eyes forming little crescents as he gazed at luhan. luhan grinned back and silence wrapped the room for a few moments.

"who are you?" sehun asked softly, breaking the silence.

"i'm luhan. i told you that already."

"no," sehun shook his head. "i meant, what are you? how did you do that?"

'are you an angel?'

luhan's lips curled upwards to give sehun a dazzling smile. "does it matter?"

sehun realized that it didn't really matter. he looked up when luhan suddenly stood to his feet, rustling his feet on the wooden floor briefly. luhan bent down and gently cupped sehun's face. the warmth sent tingles down his spine and sehun shuddered.

"i shall carry these stars with me, sehun, as long as you need them," luhan whispered, his thumb caressing sehun's cheek. "grow stronger. the stars will shine brighter if you do."

with that, luhan moved closer to sehun's face and planted his lips down sehun's cheeks, brushing away his dried tears.

"sleep well, sehun. goodbye."

and then, sehun's eyes grew heavy and the last thing he saw was luhan's beautiful smile.

fin.

-it's weird.
