Lyta Bastali
"I'm all for leaving them in a world of hurt as we leave, but I'm sorry, call it selfish, but my survival comes first."
Ed note: This is a pseudonym, pronounced 'lee-tah', rather than 'lie-tah'
Species: Red Orchaeya
Hair: Dark Green, usually worn short
Eye Color: Red
Aura Color: Purplish-red
*Notable Racial Traits:
Capable of firing paralyzing spores out of glands in her shoulders.
Immune to the negative effects of salt water (unlike the other two subraces of her species) unless she swallows it or has an open wound that it gets into. This is due to her waxy skin coating, which makes her even less water absorbent than a human
More agile than a human of similar size and weight.
It should be noted that the spores she fires are flammable, and she has a resistance to their paralyzing effects if she holds her breath and closes her eyes, this is due to the aforementioned waxy skin.
Spoken Languages: Jerolan, Igan, some Yesshan (Reading more than speaking), very little Camarian (can understand more than speaking it herself, although this is not much)
Appearance: Lyta has a bright red skin tone, a white belly and face, with rougher, more oaklike leaves over her shoulders and ears, as well as the fronds extending upward above her eyes. Her hair is a darker green, extending to a lighter shade of such towards the edges of it. Lyta typically keeps her hair cut short, although her growing it out isn't entirely unusual.
Her build is a thinner set, athletic, and possessing a short height (her height is 5'5" at best, which makes her the shortest member of the Jhettic Rim crew, not counting the Spirit Animals when they were with the crew). Lyta's small size and weight are good for quick, light movement.
As for clothing, Lyta prefers simple, uncomplicated, lightweight clothing, loose almost hakama-like pants and a wrap-around top to leave much of her skin and shoulders exposed. She prefers to go without shoes, but has a pair of sandals for times where she must. She has also been known to wrap her hands in cloth to further protect them if she's about to get into a major fight, and has a faceveil as well.
Personality: Fairly energetic, mature, and apparently voted as one of the voices of reason on the ship with the Jhettic Rim party, Lyta's personality is generally shown as an easygoing type of person who occasionally has a little Earth Logic to add to situations (particularly those of an illegal nature, which she apparently has a more than fair knowledge of).
Lyta prefers a simpler life for the most part, she doesn't really want to be a Big Damn Hero, although she wouldn't complain about the rewards if forced into the role. She is also fairly greedy, and has an obvious fondness for meat (which is more a racial trait than a personality one, even if she occasionally focuses on it a little more than she should).
She also likes a good fight, too, and will eagerly jump at the chance for some "good old fashioned violence", despite her preference for more subtle dealings.
However, Lyta takes a long time to trust someone, even if she's friendly with them on an initial meeting, and even when she trusts someone, she may not be entirely truthful even then. This is particularly notable about her own past. She will give any number of reasons she actually left her homeland, all or none of which may or may not have a grain of truth in them.
Aside from fighting and sparring, Lyta enjoys dancing as well.
Basic History: Originally hailing from the Southern Way, a chaotic, violent area of the desert where Red Orchaein tribes are at various stages of war with one another, Lyta's reasons for leaving there are largely her own and typically unshared with anyone else.
Nonetheless, Lyta apparently was some form of a thief while she was there, and for some time after she left. All considered, she may as well still be one, really.
Regardless, Lyta has traveled from the Southern Way, through Cerenbaun, and presumably Treddis, to reach the Jhettic Rim.
EQUIPMENT:
Several changes of clothing (described above, colors: grayish white, black, and a second grayish white. both grayish white versions of her outfit show obvious wear and tear, and repairwork done on them by Lyta herself)
Two pairs of sandals
Pocketspace Hoop
*Lyta is handed a small rodent skull that glows faintly when held up to the light.
What it does: *After holding the rodent skull a few moments, Lyta gets the distinct impression that she might be able to use it to summon the animal that the skull once belonged to as an astral construct. She might not have enough divine magic to do so, however (Note: She has not attempted to test this yet, due to the fact that life's a little hectic at the moment)
Needle and thread, various clothing repair tools.
Various other changes of clothing acquired from Rochus, and bought from a store
1 Ship's Commstone
lightning bolt caster level 6 (Usually kept in the Stormrunner's armory at this point)
Misdirection Anklet
Agility Enhancing Clothing (Which by and large has pretty much become her default outfit). What it does: The agility enhancing clothing is runic, and gives Lyta the equivalent agility of a Paragon of such. Allowing her to pull impressive stunts and feats as she acts.
Ability: Channeler
Channeling Element: Heat/Fire
Channeling Points:
Red is what she started with
(••••••••)
Channeling Powers:
Inherent: Manifestation
Inherent: Elemental (Heat) Sense
Aura Focus
Ballistic Motion

Detailed Shaping (Advanced)
Manipulation
Solidification/Liquidification

Chaos Field (Advanced)
Other Skills:
Lyta knows how to sew, having repaired her clothing herself numerous times. This extends to repairing sails.
By now, she also knows various ship and airship tending skills, and has a fairly basic understanding on how to pilot an airship.
She can use magnetism to scale even slightly heated surfaces.
Lyta is also starting to learn Counterweaving, so that she can start on learning how to undo magical locks next.
Lyta also knows how to dance, frequently incorporating channeling into it.
Finally, Lyta has a number of aliases she's used over the years, including "Rosa Alta", among others.
As an allegedly former thief, Lyta knows how to:
Pick pockets without anyone noticing
Pick (and typically identify on a general scale) nonmagical locks
Has an awareness of where her exits and escape routes usually are
Various bits of knowledge on other dealings of an illegal nature
She's also a fairly decent liar, although sometimes this can be compromised if it's on the spot.
She is also pretty decent at finding hidden objects or items, whether on a person or in a location.
Various other slight of hand or trickery skills.
Combat Information:
Lyta is a capable fighter, both with and without channeling. Her southern way upbringing was a very violent one, so even dispelled, her hand to hand is a little more than fair when she isn't holding back. She uses her small size and speed to her greatest advantage, attempting to remain hard to hit while striking before the opponent can hit her.
With channeling, she uses a variant of tendril combat with other (presumably self taught) skills to extend her reach and use the ability of heat and flames to wear an opponent down. Lyta typically shows restraint anytime she fights with channeling, as fire can be dangerous and unpredictable, so her energy constructs are typically made out of glowing, solidified heat to reflect this. However, she will use fire if pushed or required to.
With actual weapons in her hands, her skill drops considerably. She knows how to use casters, but aside from pointing and firing, can't really do much else easily. Lyta believes swords and other handheld blades get in her way and slow her down (which is partially true, since she doesn't know how to use them well), which is the reason she doesn't typically use them.
If Lyta does need a weapon, she generally forms a channeling heat energy construct version of one. Usually curved swords, which themselves are typically more a distraction for her opponent to evade than her actually using them as weapons.
It should be noted that Lyta doesn't fight to kill most of the time, she fights to take down.
She has also found (whether she has 'invented' this is up for debate and she won't deny that fact) that Orchaeya spores are extraordinarily flammable, which has lead her to develop a technique she calls the "boosh-and-boom", which is more a distraction flashbang than anything else.
...Although if the spores are in contact with something that has an immunity to them, there's a fairly obvious advantage there.
Other notes:
[21:30:40] <@[Louie]> Ok, better analogy
[21:30:57] <@[Louie]> Imagine being a nudist who's constantly asked to camwhore, because she's a nudist and doesn't care if people see her
[21:31:04] <@[Louie]> that's what it's like being an orchaeya around humans
[21:31:30] <@[Louie]> it turns something that's a little fun into a chore, and unreasonable pressure is put on you where you're treated as an object instead of a person
[21:31:40] <[Ward]> riiight
[21:31:59] <[Ward]> that's a pretty good analogy
[21:32:01] <[Lyta]> and that's why Lyta wears clothes, -she- doesn't care, it's everyone else who does.
[21:33:39] <[Lyta]> ..Plus admittedly she likes having pockets.
Also: While Lyta's concept is largely mine and my own, her species, and the world she hails from is not. I have Seiun's ('Louie', above) permission to get her commissioned by any artist I wish.
As of a couple of games ago, Lyta is now linked to the Stormrunner. In particular, the three soul cores that assist in the ship's operation. The soul cores each have a pseudo-copy of her own soul at the point they were attuned to her. Forever locked at eight channeling points with the fire/heat element.
The soul cores cannot overchannel, however they can charge up channeling power.
However, their range is largely limited to the Stormrunner itself, with themselves at the center of the standard channeling 200 foot range.
They're a singular entity together. One primary core, two secondaries. However, they can each act on independent tasks, or enhance one another in a simultaneous task. Or even do so in conjunction with Lyta and her channeling capabilities.
As it stands currently, Lyta has complete control over the soul cores. To the point they follow her mental commands as if they were an extension of herself, however, she has given them explicit instructions to accept verbal orders from Selia (Since, after all, she's the captain and the Stormrunner is her ship), and when necessary, to allow Walunder to pilot the ship.
