Superfun weekend in Phoenix, AZ...

Well, I have been wanting to post about my trip to Phoenix but haven't had much of a chance so I'm taking my lunch break to update. Where to start....

Well, Thursday last week, flew in and Phoenixcub picked me up and wisked me away to his place to...get acquainted. We met up with his friend Rick and went to dinner near where the Nashville Predators were playing the Phoenix Coyotes (hockey game.) Dinner was good and company was even better. We went to the game and it was a very good game, until the Predators got beat by a point...Phoenixcub was happy but I was frowny boy. I told them they had to make me feel better because I was sad and they cheered me up :-)

The next day, Phoenixcub and I slept in late and hit Jack in the Box for some yumminess before making a store run for some things. We met up with his friend Jason for a late lunch at Pei Wei and had a good meal. We all hit it off pretty well and made our way to StarBucks for some more yumminess. We chatted and had a good time and made plans for Saturday. Phoenixcub and I were then off to see a lacross game (Phoenix vs New York) and I loved it! I had never been to a lacross game and I beleive it's now my favorite sport. I wish there were teams closer than Chicago! We had a blast, randomly singing and just being silly. I tried to find a hat as a souvenir but they only had one that I didn't care much for so alas, no Sting souvenir. Then we met up with Jason again at a place called Burger Betties (it was a gay restaurant with a drag show inside.) The food was really good and we had a good time watching the show, ogling the cuties and just having a good time together. Then we headed off for coffee at a late night coffee house (Yum!). It was funny to watch Jason dramatize spilling some coffee on his hands and becoming sticky...lol. (it reminded us of the scene from The Birdcage where Albert "pierced the toast." We got a nice laugh out of that and we headed back to Phoenix cub's place and called it an evening.

Saturday, we met up with Jason and went to Taylor's cafe for breakfast. We had a model for a waiter and we all ogled him while ordering our delicious omelettes. The food was great, the view was great and again the company was great. Then Phoenixcub took me to the new Japanese Friendship Garden in town. It was really serene and pretty. I took lots of pics and we relaxed in a few spots around the garden, overlooking a nice little pond. We took in all the sites until they were about to close and we made our way out. Then he took me to South Mountain, which overlooks the city of Phoenix. It was really cool! I felt like we were in the clouds. We were really high up looking down at the city, surrounded by mountain peaks, cacti and rocks. We posed for pics on the rocks and lookout tower, joked around, chatted for awhile and did some more random singing. It was really nice and sweet. Afterwards we again met up with Jason at StarBucks at the Phoenix Center downtown and went to Garduno's for some New Mexican cuisine...It was soooooo good! The restaurant was very interesting and I loved the atmosphere...I had an awesome coconut margarita (instead of salt on the rim, it had toasted coconut and caramel...sooooo gooood!) We went to a gellato shop for some dessert afterwards and chatted for awhile. Jason had to leave us to help his mother with a PC problem so Phoenixcub and I mosied back to his place to watch a movie and snuggle.

Sunday morning we met up with Jason and Paul (Icebear) at the Good Egg. I loved that place. It was so happy, the staff knew everyone since they were regulars there and we were promptly seated and we chatted and had a lovely breakfast. Everything was good. I had biscuits and gravy with eggs and hashbrowns. They were so yummy. I could go there every day! Afterwards we again went to StarBucks for some happiness in a cup and sat around enjoying the day (which was beautiful.) Jason had to visit his Grandmama so Paul, Ron and I went off to see the botanical gardens. We walked the garden and looked at everything there. It was a nice workout and we all had a nice time. We called it a day there, said goodbye to Paul and Ron took me to the ASU campus area in Tempe. We hit StarBucks, yet again, and then walked around the shops and stuff there before deciding to go for Indian cuisine for dinner. We got to see the end of the superbowl at the restaurant but we had a delicious meal and good conversation. We had garlic naan, some delicious little pastry puffs with meat inside, Chicken tikka masala and lamb korma...everything was sooo wonderful. We cleared everything out and just had a happy chat, while dreading my return to Nashville the next day. We decided to make a final run to the Gellato stop again and we again went back to his place and cuddled.

In summary, I had a great time. I wouldn't mind living in Phoenix (at least I'm told I wouldn't mind during the winter as it's really hot in the summer.) It seems to be a more laid back place, lots to do, gay friendly...I made lots of new friends there that I hope to keep in touch with and hopefully visit again. I really didn't want to come back. I have to shout out special thanks to the cute and cuddly Phoenixcub for putting me up for the weekend, showing me a great time and for just being a sweetie. I miss all of you guys already. This was definitely an experience I will never forget. Thanks to you all!
