Birthday Bash...sorta....
Well yesterday was Alex's birthday party. I cooked a feast fit for 20 peoples: dinner included, parmesian encrusted chicken, penne rustica, bruchetta, salad, grapes, roasted veggies, stuffed mushrooms and of course, the leaning tower of Pisa cake. It took forever to make but it all came out good...although the veggies were a little overcooked.
Anyways, we waited around for some time and it was about 7:30 PM (supposed to start at 6PM) when our first guest arrived. Then they began to trickle in until we had a very small band of people, certainly not what we're used to for one of his parties...it's usually more like 30 people crammed in the living room, kitchen, dining room and the patio and porch. Not this time, we all comfortably fit in the living room and dining room.

Yes, that's right, Irene is back from cruise line hell! YAY! I was so excited to see her that I had to scoop my jaw up off the floor. She looks great and she and nighteyes look so cute together. AWwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww! They have teh cuteness factor.
Everyone chatted and we dug into the cake as the evening was winding down. Everyone took off so I loaded the dishwasher and rinsed off the remaining stuff and went to bed. Not the most exciting party we've had but it was a party none the less. It just comes to show there are some people you can count on and others...well, anyway. Now I need another weekend to recover from cooking all day! I forgot how much that can take out of you.
