Is this the birth of the new Mix Speaker’s, Inc.?
This spring their new single [Romeo no Melody] and the live DVD of their show, which had been held in Shibuya AX on the 31st on January [1st Travel - Departure - Space Musical Parade] have been released simultaneously. Also, on the 1st of April, their one man tour [CRAZY TRAIN A GO! GO!] starts the exact same time.
What kind of story are they going to tell us with the start of this new journey? This time we were at the set of the PV shooting of [Romeo no Melody] and had the chance to capture a still image of it, as well as to bring you the latest interview on their new song and its making, and a taste of their nearly overflowing enthusiasm towards their next tour.
- So let’s start with the new concept and the introduction of each of you.
Yuki [I am the peace-loving, eco-messenger, who strides out to save the world with his singing - Soprano Star!]
Miki [I am the one who makes a living with illustrations, aside from music and is a little reluctant to group up with other people - Tenor Star!]
Aya [I am FF V. From the writing that might look like [Final Fantasy 5], but please read this as [Fortissimo V]. (laughs) I am the one who is enrolled in the Metal-faculty at a symphonic university and out of all the members I am like the young and hopeful. (laughs) All the others have been in bands before, but ever since I am in the band, they are able to sell. (laughs)]
All [Oh REALLY??? (laughs)]
Aya [Yes, really! I’m the lucky boy! (laughs)]
- The others don’t really look like they are convinced. (laughs) So how about keiji-san?
Keiji [I am Crescendo Parker and I come from the [HARAJUKU-Universe], where I have become a singing and guitar-playing scout.]
Seek [I am the one leading a live on the bottle - Drill Bass…and although I say this, this time there is no drill. (laughs)]
S [My name is Funny Snare and I am like the guy who has rich parents and therefore is basically the sponsor for the band, which is the reason why everyone lets him tag along.]
Seek [The original idea was for him to be the rich son, but in his name [funny] is meant in the way of [weird]. The origin on this name is actually set in Europe, where the western PA guy was like [You snare sounds kinda funny, is that ok like that?] (laughs)]
S [As for my concerns it was totally tuned the way I usually use it and then I am told how it sounds funny to Northern Europe’s people…I was pretty much in shock, when they told me. Moreover they pretty much told me, that I should pay more attention to things like that, like I was just a careless Japanese. (bitter laugh)]
- How did those six people meet?
Seek [How these six people, who each have their own story eventually met and what their course will be, is going to be told during the lives, I think. However, those six also met the six characters from before and Soprano Star has heard about the danger of the world and is thriving to rescue the world with his songs…that’s it in a very rough outline, but this is about the story we are going to draw with this.]
- Ok, we are looking forward to it, but putting it aside, let’s go on with the PV shooting of [Romeo no Melody].
Seek [Selling well as the band [Music Star], it is like the setting of a TV recording for a show, which is hosted by DoDo and PaPa.]
- The scene when you all played with the balloons looked like a lot of fun.
Aya [It was a lot of fun since that was basically the only scene, where we could move freely (laughs)]
All [That was really a lot of fun!]
Miki [Maybe at some point we all mused that we might make some of those balloons burst to pieces, I guess. (laughs)]
Seek [It even happened unintentionally and every time again we were startled. (laughs)]
- This turned out rather different to the usually strictly set and very sophisticated PVs, and the rather simple yet orthodox playing was a fresh and new picture. Almost a little clumsy… (laughs)
Aya [Mostly my part, probably (laughs). As for moving around the costume was really good, however, I didn’t quite know how to move as a male character anymore and I was trying to figure this out during playing. Well, before that I felt a little uneasy, but then the spirits were really good about this. (laughs)]
S [For me, too, without any (major costume) part on my head, the playing itself was pretty easy. However, I was used to playing a monster and didn’t really know how to move as a human.]
Miki [Certainly, after two years of doing this as monsters, we can’t just simply switch back. (laughs)]
Yuki [However, the two of us were even as monsters pretty human, so we didn’t really have that much of a problem with that, did we?]
Miki [But actually, wearing and moving in a skirt left me concerned at some point.]
- The costumes have become remarkably simple, which seems to have hit you all to some extend, didn’t it?
Keiji [It might have looked simple, however, in my case those checkered pants where incredibly tight and they weren’t the least stretchable. While I was moving, pretty early during the filming, suddenly the fabric got torn on my backside. (laughs) We didn’t fix that, though, I just played, trying not to show it. However, when re-watching it, it showed quite a bit. (bitter laugh) Of course we got those scenes cut, however, when you are really looking for it, you can probably see it…it’s like a hidden [service-cut]. (laughs)]
S [Since it’s around the waistline, where the sweater is, during the normal playing one wouldn’t see it, but when you were spinning around or lifting your leg or something, one might have guessed where it was. (laughs)]
Seek [Pretty sexy shots. (laughs)]
Keiji [Until the live, I will properly measure things. (laughs)]
- So that means, there have been problematic points about the costumes from the very beginning?
Seek [Yeah, for me too, since that mask was unexpectedly heavy, it came off multiple times. Eventually, it fell off and broke to pieces. Therefore in the final cut there are scenes, when I wear it and scenes when I don’t (laughs) Well, since we have discovered those parts which need improvement, we can face the lives, I think.]
- For those cosplaying fans in particular, please be so kind to tell them each a special point (about your costumes).
Aya [Everyone, since I have pretty much destroyed my standards, for those people who like the more normal style, please try to do an Aya-cosplay! Well, since that felt a little shallow, I added the hood. (laughs)]
Keiji [As for my cosplay, make sure to buy stretchy fabric for the pants (laughs) Else it might be a little tiring.]
S [On the side of the pants there is a pink and purple line of patterned fabric attached, which is as soft as a blanket. That’s the special point about it. (laughs) Moreover my hairdo is like that of someone acting as a baron, or so, which curls to the outside. (laughs)]
Yuki [Costume-wise the specialty would be the red fur, which is attached to my shoulder, however, I think it would be really great if you tried to pair up with a Miki-kun cosplayer.]
Miki [As for me, I got that white fluffy stuff attached to my (pants at the) hip. (laughs) Also, you could use a different shade of red for your hair.]
Seek [For (the special points with my costume, it) would be the mask and the gauze shirt including the illustrations. As for the mask I recommend, that you use a lighter material if you can. (laughs) Miki-kun drew the illustrations on that shirt for me. Everyone, please try drawing something to your own heart on your shirts. Moreover, there is pink added to my hair, which might lead to obstacles in leading your normal lives, but please give your best anyway!! (laughs) You pull those pants up to your waist, as for the low-hanging state of them, please ask Miki-kun. (laughs)]
Miki [Usually, when you fasten such loose pants with a belt, won’t there be wrinkles, where you draw them together? Therefore, we kinda used a strange kind of tucks to prevent this. (laughs) No matter how often I said, that that needs to be different, he never listened. That is a point you really need to pay attention to.]
- Speaking of images, the day the new single is released is also the day, when the DVD containing the Shibuya AX live comes out.
Seek [I think we did a great job with this compilations, where we can really bring the feeling of our live shows across. You all might discover a new side of the band members and since it is a live which was full of trouble at times also, we still hope that you can all feel this completely and enjoy this greatly. There are also a couple of off-shots and there is Yuki-kun’s [punishment-game]. Something interesting might happen, once you click that and there are some more gadgets we would like you to enjoy along with this.]
- In April the new tour starts as well, so to promote you works a little, please leave a message for you fans.
Seek [While the tour will bring out those very individual characters, there will be a powerful reinforcement of the live-feeling from Shibuya AX, which we would like to portray on the front. Since there have been only a few releases during the last year, we really want to get out some cool songs now.]
S [With the new single and DVD release, plus the first day of the tour, it is really a bunch of stuff on the first of April. The new song is really great, and since we put a lot of self-confidence in it, we would like you to listen to it a lot. As for the DVD, please watch [Robohohho] a couple of times. (laughs)]
Aya [Since the new tour’s theme is that of [MUSIC STAR] we want to put this into the theme of our stage and performance. We worked really hard on this and this is like the place of a new beginning for us, therefore we would really like you to come watch MSI on a stunning tour.]
Keiji [This is the first single of this year and it includes a complete change of our visual (image), which brings various challenges. It might be a drastic change on the outside, however, at the root we don’t change, but broaden ourselves, I think. Therefore, we would like you to feel at ease and support us just as ever, and also those people who only know MSI by chance, we would really like you to put more interest (into our music) and support us with all you strength.]
