Started off my weekend with a trip down to the Parkway to watch the Motorcycle Ride for Dad go by (they're a client at work), and that was pretty cool. Then I walked back toward Lebreton, where Fuzzy was setting up for the Children's Festival. It was a very pretty walk, along the parkway bike path, but also very very long. That afternoon, we had our meeting with the wedding site to discuss numbers and food and stuff, so that's all coming together nicely. After that, we hooked up with Fuzzy's dad and stepmom, who were in town, and had dinner with them.
Sunday was uneventful. Went grocery shopping, had breakfast with Fuzzy's parents, went to my parents' for dinner.
Yesterday I ended up being asked to go down to Centrepointe for the Orpheus tech rehearsal, as they had 30 body mics to strap on, and basically no one to do it. And the mics got locked on the stage during the union break, so none of the prep work was done when the hordes of mic-requiring cast descended. It was quite chaotic, but I managed to get everybody miced and on their way, and then I went home to watch the hockey game. The sad hockey game. :( They'll do better next time.
And then the sad news. I found out this weekend that one of the girls I was in West Side with has committed suicide. I didn't know her well, but it's still shocking and upsetting. I just keep thinking back to her then, and wondering what happened, and where this came from. The other thing I keep thinking about is how awful I was feeling for a while several years ago, when I'll admit that such thoughts definitely crossed my mind. To actually take that step, though, I can't even imagine how much worse she must have been feeling, and that's really sad. No one should have to feel like that. If there's anything to be found beyond this life, I truly hope she's found what she needed. I know she'll be missed here.
