Crazy UV body-painting night

A little backstory: Several years ago, a guy named Jean Rene partnered with the Fringe Festival to put together this Human Mozaik project, whereby he photographed a whole whack of people, and then turned each photo into a pixel in a larger photo. That project is currently hanging on Besserer. When he did this, I went to be one of the models. I ended up loving one of the photos he took so much he gave me a high-enough resolution version of it that I could have it blown up and printed. I've also been using it as my icon for just about anything that requires one (including LJ). And I also loved the project enough that I've tried to participate in as many of his subsequent projects as possible. I'm in the H2O one (hanging on the side of the Novotel by the Rideau Centre), and will be in the Neckwork one as well (it's not up anywhere yet). So after all this, I ran into Jean at Chapters a few weeks ago, and he invited me to be a part of a prototype design he was working on for a new project. So I went and spent a few hours being made into essentially a big paper doll, and it was a good time. Because I was there, I also got in on some performance art gigs he had coming up. Which is really the point of this post.

Sunday night was the closing gala for the animation festival, and I and three other models got painted with fluorescent paint under UV lights, while all the festival people meandered about. Have to say, being in a room full of people, wearing nothing above the waist except a sports bra and body paint was a bit of a trip. But totally fun. And watching the hot boys with no shirts on get painted? That was fun too. And I only got hit on twice - if you count the bartender, and you can never be sure about them. The other guy was just trying so very hard to pick up me and/or the other female model, without actually coming out and saying anything directly. It was kind of pathetic, really. But as I was excepting quite a few more sleazy pick-up attempts, I'd call it a good night. Even better is I get paid for this. And there's a possibility of another similar event next month. I may or may not end up doing that one. But in any case, I had a good time Sunday, and I'm so looking forward to seeing some pictures. :)
